I think IMVITE is the best kept IM secret on the net.
They just released v.1.8 of their interoperable IM (AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and ICQ). It also has free audio and video chat (which Trillian charges for). I find it fast and easy to use.
Now they added free worldwide tv and radio. You can watch hundreds of streaming tv and radio stations online while you IM. This is not some cheesy interface – this is a nice clean way to watch real tv stations from all over the world.
I know there was some old press on them a year ago. They have really changed and now they seem to just be providing a free interoperable messenger with nice easy to use features and no strings attached.
I recommend you take a look (or another look if you’ve been there in the past). It’s a 149KB download. http://www.imvite.com

I’ve just looked over the site, it’s, well, yet another interoperable program. Each one seems to have it’s own little special feature, and with imvite, they now have free worldwide TV and radio. I hear there are limited stations as of now, but if it grows, it could become more successful.
The only bone to pick with this program is that it’s not really skinnable. I don’t much like the interfaces the company chooses for you, I’d prefer to choose (or even make) my own. But it still looks like a legit program that I imagine is right for someone out there. 🙂
