Hi all,
Can anyone suggest where i can download msn messenger that does not require administrator’s rights? Currently i have a version 7.0 installed in my desktop. But when i tried to login, they came out with a error message saying that my version is too old. Thus, i will need to upgrade to a newer version. Click OK for the upgrade to take place. But after i click OK, there’s no upgrade done.

Are you using XP? If you’re implying an office situation, perhaps your Administrator or IT guy has configured a group policy to prevent users from installing software on their own. In that case, they have to log in with their account and install Messenger for you.
Windows Live Messenger doesn’t require one to have administrator rights in order to install it on a home system.

Many IT departments “lock down” systems so users cannot install new software on the office computers without permission. If this is the case, you will need to contact your IT department to assist.

Although there are methods around this, for example you can use a portable messenger which you can install on your thumb drive which will allow you to connect to the messenger service.
Examples of this are:
Hope that’s some help

If you have a security policy restricting you from installing applications via installer service, you will need to use some alternative. If such a policy is active and enforced, I would imagine you probably shouldn’t be circumventing it…
