Memberbefore I left to go to a concert the internet disconnected as it always does but after that something extremely odd and crazy happened…internet explorer started to massingly open so every split second another one would come up so at one time I had 45 internet explroers opened, that’s when I right clicked on the taskbar and hit close…but they kept coming!! so I had to go to the task manager and end iexplorer…does anyone know what happened with my computer? is this sum kinda virus or is my computer on something..?

ParticipantI suggest you invest in another web browser besides Internet Explorer. The alternatives really shine these days. Try Firefox. http://www.mozilla.org
To fix your IE problem, you should do this:
1. Do you update your virus scanner every week? If not, you may be infected with viruses. No need to worry. If you’re not sure, you can get a free scan online to check your PC for viruses: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm2. Is your PC running sluggish? Are you getting popup ads frequently? You may have something called spyware or adware on your system. These things are on the verge of being viruses and can ruin a PC if left unchecked.
There are some programs to check for this. I will show you the easiest one to use. It is called “Ad-Aware” it will scan your computer much like a virus scanner. (Most virus scanners do not detect adware/spyware.)
-Get Ad-Aware program here: http://fileforum.betanews.com/download/965718306/1
Note: When installing Ad-Aware, leave all the options checked. It will need to update itself and perform a system scan after installation.
Ad-Aware will scan and show you the number of objects it found in your system. (I want you to let me know how many it picked up) When it’s finished, clicked the Next button. It will take you to the list of objects it found. From here, right click on any item and click the “Select All Objects” option. Once everything is selected, click the NEXT button. A confirmation dialog box will pop up asking if you want to confirm removing the spyware/adaware objects. Go ahead and click OK. It should be finished, go ahead and exit the Ad-Aware program.

MemberThis is what most proably happened. Some links will continuously make a new page pop up. You must have clicked on such a link I doubt if it is virus that did although it is possible. Do not click on links that you do not trust that will keep u safe

MemberI already have ad-aware and spybot SD… and no I don’t get popups because I have 3 popul blockers..yahoo, google, and the one that comes with SP2. I didn’t click a link, it happened after the internet disconnected. The only sites I was on at that time were bigblueball and whatpulse. I’ll try firefox and see if that helps anything. I might also see if this happens again.

On a side note:
It seems like you, just like me, recognize other members by their avatar. Now let it have happened that AnimeUSA and detn8r have the same avatar. 😉It was AnimeUSA that wrote that post, not detn8r. 🙂
