I have a laptop and I am connected to the internet via an ethernet cable to one of the ports in my house (the living room). If I connect the same cable to another ethernet port in my room, it doesn’t work at all.
The cable is fine, and both ports work.
I think I might have messed up the properties of the TCP/IP Configuration or something like that, because when I run cmd and type in “ipconfig” it says “Media disconnected”.
Does anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks for your help.

I don’t know how to fix it.
Thanks for your response.

November 30, 2006 at 7:53 pm #154736SpikeMemberYeah… if your computer’s internet connection works in one port in your wall but not the other, then you have a cable problem. Call whoever ran the ethernet lines throughout your house and have them insect and test the line.

Anyway to reverse that?

December 1, 2006 at 5:01 pm #154737SpikeMemberWoah, time out dvelez, it doesn’t matter at all what type of IP it is, in fact it’s better to have a satic one.
Stanford: No matter what, if it DOES work on one port, but does NOT work on another port in the same room in the same house, then there is something wrong with that cable line (in the walls).

All I did was ask the tech guy to restart the system and it works fine.
Thanks again.
