WTF? Anyone have a clue why these programs have become the number one spam target in 2009? ooolay!
April 30, 2009 at 3:10 am #174554FanaticMemberI’ve seen ads offering “easy money for posting links.” I’ll bet I know what they are linking to…
April 30, 2009 at 11:50 am #174559PhilipModeratorWe’ve got my number one weapon of choice here (One-touch ban and clean) so I’m ready…

May 3, 2009 at 8:56 pm #174555FanaticMemberThere must be money in it, though it seems like a rather desperate way to get business.

I know some platforms allow you to blacklist particular words, and until you physically go change the word somehow (which is probably too much effort for these guys) you can’t get the item to post.
Not that I have anything against watching for spam. I do so love the absolute power of one touch ban – but for some period of time it resides and members on an actual quest for information and knowledge may be subjected to it.
June 10, 2009 at 12:41 pm #174553FanaticMemberWr can blacklist certain words, but that doesn’t put them into moderation. Interesting idea though… if someone uses a blacklisted word, instead of redacting it, push it to moderation so the public doesn’t see it. I’ll have to look into this…
June 17, 2009 at 1:48 am #174556NessaParticipantI don’t think it’s bad enough that it should require some type of block, in my opinion. Plus if we staff become at least a bit active we should all be able to catch it pretty quick. I know I delete them as soon as I catch them (but then again it’s usually the same people who catch them). I don’t know if this is because others see it and don’t care or because they just didn’t log in when it was there – who knows.
I don’t mind doing it – it gives me something to do! Plus it doesn’t hurt anyone being there a bit.
But like I said, just my two cents!
