does anyone know how to get the invisable text on AIM where the backgrounds white and the text is white so you can only seeit by highlighting it? i tried making the color white but it just turned grey. i thought ive seen it up here before but i searched and got nothing…help please? is there a code or somethin..
April 27, 2005 at 3:09 am #120486Jeff HesterKeymasterThe answer is found in our AIM Center, where there is a short tutorial titled the Send Hidden Messages with the AIM F2 Trick.
April 27, 2005 at 3:38 am #120487_Max_MemberI didnt mean the F2 trick, i ment the highlight one, where you highlight a blank area and theres text – where the background and font color are the same
April 27, 2005 at 4:01 pm #120493chikenkickerMemberi think if you type the html code yourself it will work
April 28, 2005 at 5:01 pm #120490Jon8RFCMemberIn my experience, this doesn’t work. When I write out the html font color to be the same as the background, AIM automatically parses it as a color that IS visible on the background. This happens for both profiles and when pasting in an IM window. Your only option is the F2 trick Jeff posted.
April 28, 2005 at 6:31 pm #120484Jeff HesterKeymasterthere is one way to do it. i’ve seen it done before. this ‘trick’ uses a hex color that is VERY similar to the background but not exactly the same. the differences are not visible to the human eye, and this is why the text ‘seems’ invisible. also aim doesn’t do this “automatic color changing” deal on this. i captured some packets a while back, and i noticed this. the problem is that i do not have these packet logs anymore. if you or anyone you know can do this effect in their profile (usually used to display “even when you can’t see him god is with you” or similar), you should just ask them to show you their profile’s html code. if they don’t let you just do some sniffing of your own.

April 28, 2005 at 10:15 pm #120488_Max_Memberokay…so how do i do that
April 29, 2005 at 4:55 am #120491Jon8RFCMember“magic pink” aka FF00FF doesn’t work, and FEFEFE doesn’t work on a FFFFFF background. Have both of you actually tried this yourselves? It sure isn’t working for me in IMs (when pasting) or in profiles (when setting the profile before signing on).
AIM 5.5.3599May 6, 2005 at 3:24 am #120485Jeff HesterKeymasterah yes, after searching for sometime i have finally stumbled across someone who had “Even though you can’t see him he is still there…If you believe in God put this in your profile” line in their profile. using my trusty packet sniffer, i found the line of code that is used to produce this “invisible text”
Code:Even though you can’t see him he is still there…If you believe in God put this in your profileobviously this is horrible html, but nevertheless it works… and that’s the main goal, right? i was correct in that the color of the text varies slightly from the background color, i just didn’t know what color varied where.
well anyways, if you want to add your own personal “invisible text” to your profile or instant message, i’d prefer that you use the following line (why? because i’m better than you)
Code:if you can see this, you’re crazy.replacing the “if you can…” with something a bit more meaningful.
sorry for the late reply, this is not an intentional bump of any kind. i’m not sure if this code works on newer versions of AIM (4.8+). this should also work on gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/), ’cause, unlike aol’s official client, gaim doesn’t parse colors to make them more visible (as far as i know).
May 6, 2005 at 3:30 am #120489_Max_Memberhey thanks
May 6, 2005 at 1:31 pm #120492Jon8RFCMemberMax, it worked for you on what version? I tried on 4.3, 4.7, 4.8 and it worked on none.
