MemberHow can I constantly show visible, when in fact I am logged in as invisible. Help!
June 10, 2003 at 11:23 pm #95178Johnson
MemberHow do you know you are showing visible? I personally add myself to my pager so i can see what my status is, few months back sometimes it wouldn’t show as online, and now it always does, as far as being invisible, if you are in games it will still show to your friends list sometimes even though you are logged on as invisible, or at least it used to be like this. If you are in Invisible mode, and you see that you are showing as online, I would refresh messenger (re-login). Another thing, from time to time some ids will show as online contstantly whether they are online or offline. If someone shows as online, and i don’t think they are there i will check their profile, or also do a status check. If you still show as online when you are invisible, you might try a different version of messenger, or re-install the one you have.

MemberI have tried all of those options and still get the same result. I know that I am online because I keep getting messages from people telling me so. Thank you for the information though, I appreciate your trying.

MemberIt’s not as common as it used to be, but some ids would show as online for months, if it’s that big of a deal try making a new id, and logging it in, see if it changes it at all, or you could just use it, also try updating your profile, I don’t use Invisible mode much, if someone is bothering me i just ignore them, don’t care how long i known them, Invisible is nice, but a lot of people use it to avoid people they don’t like, you can remove your name from someones elses friends list, or just simply ignore them, its kinda illogical to use it to me. You could also goto My Profiles and
Check the box to hide my online status () from other users.
If your profile is showing you as online, it will change that, and possibly change your status on your friends messenger. Only thing i can think of is your profile gets stuck as showing you online I don’t see how it would stay like that on messenger.

MemberThanks Johnson. Seems as though there is no logic to it. I thought maybe someone could have had me pegged. Possibly someone who wanted to know that I am online, when in fact, I didn’t want them to know, hence invisible. Sometimes, you just don’t feel like chatting, you know.

MemberThat was some really good and nice advice. Nice going Johnson! Just, also beware that you are completely logged out when you leave chat. I have found if I change my status and log out that way…yahoo! does not log me out (i see it on another profile) and it’s happening to a friend of mine who goes invisible A LOT(which is why I am bringing it up here). He showed as online for the entire night and day when in fact he was somewhere else. He was visible only for the last few minutes he was online…but Yahoo! never logged him out. When he tried to be inivisible again he was visible. Try to pay attention to what you are doing with messenger and then if this problem happens again, you’ll probably be able to figure out what’s doing it. (And I KNOW what you mean about not wanting to chat with people sometimes!)

MemberI’m only bein nice cause certain peoples trying to get me banned from this forum, or push me away from posting on here by deleting new topics i start, and what not, don’t worry it won’t last long so don’t get used to it, some people view me as a threat so they attack me, people take things too serious, just cause i smart off, doesn’t mean i don’t have a LOT to offer the forum, nothing wrong with crackin a few jokes. I’m not going no were, i read between the lines better then most people, i understand how to DEBATE, and take in someone elses point of view, i don’t think im some kinda god who’s never wrong.
As far as using Invisible mode, i understand the reasoning behind it, like if you don’t wanna chat with someone specific at a certain time, but i look at confrontation as being a good thing myself, I just don’t get why if you are avoiding someone over a period of time you wouldn’t just iggy them. And for the appearing as online when you are invisible if you can’t fix it then it’s a yahoo glitch(bug).June 11, 2003 at 1:56 am #95180justcuzican
MemberThanks Johnson. Don’t worry, I don’t take things all that serious, unless confronted on issues face to face. We all have to learn how to take it before we can dish it out, right? Anyhow, I came here looking for the magical answer, and it just appears to be a glitch and nothing more. It’s not to the point of never wanting to chat with someone again, but when you are at work, multi-tasking to begin with, and people just don’t want to leave you alone…..that is when you want to be invisible. Iggy is not something I want to do. As far as logging into a chat room, I don’t do that to begin with, so it appears it is just some lame Yahoo glitch, that will probably work itself out in the end. Thanks for your time. Talk soon.

its a common issue…..
only takes a minute to see if thats the case…June 11, 2003 at 2:23 am #95179justcuzican
MemberThanks Nhyrvana but get this. Simply switching from invisble to available and back again seems to have fixed the glitch. Maybe pass this on to others, if it ever comes up. I don’t frequent chat rooms, nor do I do the game thing. Thanks for all of your help.

MemberI was reading a few things and noticed that Johnson talked about removing your name from some elses list. I was wondering how to do that. Better yet is there a way to find out who has my name in their list? Thanks in advance for the help and this is and interesting way to found out new things. THANKS!!!!!!!!

Memberhttp://www.carbonize.co.uk/Yahoo/deny.html
Is a link to remove your id off of someone elses friends list, and is also how to tell if someone is on your friends list. If you remove them and they had you added, then it will say “Ok” If they didn’t have you added it will say something else about invalid cookie or something, can’t remember. Make sure you are signed into http://www.my.yahoo.com cause being logged into messenger alone, usually doesn’t mean you are logged into yahoo’s website. Keep in mind yur id prolly won’t be removed until they re-login, and also i would wait a day or so and try to remove them again to check an see if it worked, i deleted someone, and it didnt work the first time. If you are really wanting to know who has you added, put up an enticing status message, or you could just put one up asking for people to msg you if you are on their list, i have found people who had me secretly added by tricking them with weird statuses.

MemberHey Johnson, I just wanted to say I never noticed anyone trying to run you off.. (although I did see a little conflict going on between you and other members that I also respect.) I love reading this board. I have learned some great tips from everyone and met some wonderful people here. I just wanted to say some of your posts have been very helpful to me as well…and I also wanted to mention I like the new “nice” Johnson. Although I did tell you I was very leery of you when you first signed on. I do hope you stick around it is nice to have the inside view from someone who knows what goes on in the mind of a booter/hacker…I do appreciate the time you take to help.:)
