MemberHi,
I don’t want to hack someone or make something illegaly.
I only want to know the IP address of a user who is on my list. I want to know where the user is from.
That’s it. And I don’t want to ask him, bcause we didn’t talk about 3 months. So, how can I get her IP?

Memberbreak the ice and start talking with him/her. Its more than going to help rather than spying over IP address.

Memberu dont understand, I cant and dont like to talk to her.
i only want her ip. how can I get it?July 21, 2004 at 4:19 pm #75752MartinBradley
MemberWell you coudl always create a different address and add her, then ask her the IP from there, I mean she isn’t going to know who you are. However I do not wish to condone anything like that, as it is dishonest (and potentially against forum policies?). And why do you want the IP anyway?
I’d go with neo_ny_23 and be that little more mature and just talk to them. You say you “can’t” talk to them. Does this mean you don’t want to, or you have a problem which prevents you from talking to her?

MemberI agree with the above, also, if you don’t like this person and don’t wish to hack or threaten the person; why do you want her IP???

Memberi only want to trace the ip to see where the person is from (which country)

MemberYou’re not going to like this answer, but ok… here goes.
Quote:quote:Originally posted by chemidoonamAnd I don’t want to ask him, bcause we didn’t talk about 3 months.
If you do not feel comfortable to even just ask them something, then how can you feel comfortable finding out their IP address secretly and looking where they are from?
If you are just certain that they will not tell you the truth when you ask them where they are, then the answer is even simpler: forget about them! They aren’t worth your time if they lie to you.

Membercome on guys.
no way to find out her ip address without talking to her?
I tried netstat, but this only works if I talk to the personJuly 21, 2004 at 6:34 pm #75751shifter
ParticipantI don’t know how simple you need this spelled out, but here goes:
NO, you cannot obtain an IP without initiating a direct connection with the intended recipient.
A direct connection requires you to accept or send a file transfer, video or audio conference, or any other action that initiates the Peer to Peer mode.

MemberThis request seems kinda shady if you ask me. đŸ˜‰

MemberPeer 2 Peer mode if left on is automatic,
when sending a pm, or any of the other things listed by shifter.
But, obtaining an IP is not spoofing…

KeymasterI guess I’m missing something here but first chem says its a him and then he says he wants her ip sounds suspicious to me. Have to agree with Neo on that one ask them or just get them to typing to you, generally you can figure out where they are from by the way they type .

KeymasterCorrect me if I’m wrong but spoofing an Ip is when you try to hide your ip address from someone/ or some location. Its when you go through a proxy server and for lack of a better word you piggyback someone else’s ip address. This is frownd upon by other people because it generally means you are up to no good.

MemberActually, IP spoofing doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with proxy servers. In fact, IP spoofing is usually only used for a DoS attack of some sort. IP spoofing works by you changing the IP address you are using, much like changing your MAC address in the registry. You probably can do it by using a Proxy server, however, I’m not entirely sure how it’s done, but usually not with a proxy server. The reasons you spoof an IP address are as I mentioned above, to use a DoS attack on someone. Usually one using DNS requests, or by using the 3 way handsake of a TCP connection. The DNS request DoS is used to knock the person offline of the IP that you are spoofing, and the 3 way handshake DoS is used to knock someone else off, like a website, not the person to whom you’re spoofing. Hope this helps to answere some questions on that or make any corrections, and, if you see an error with what I’ve said, please correct me. đŸ™‚
