Im currently experiencing serious ipod problems and would really like a hand here please guys.
I had an old 20g ipod but sold it and got my new 30g. so i put the cd and install the new itunes and thats all honkey dorey. But then i plug my new ipod into the usb and everything falls down around me.
A pop up box apears that says there has been a malfunction with the device so i go into device manager and it says that where the cable is, is an “unknown device”.
I check its properties and it says in device status, “No drivers are installed for this device. “
So what do I do? PLease help me out here guys. I really do not want an ipod sitting around that isnt going to work for me.
edit: btw, i put the new cd and stuff in and that was all fine.

Quote:Right click “My Computer” go to “Properties”
– Go to “Hardware” tab
– Go to “Device Manager”
– Scroll and find the “Universal Serial Bus controllers” and maximise the directory
– make sure that your mouse or keyboard isnt connected via USB (you will be uninstalling all USB drivers and it will kill all USB devices)
– right-click and uninstall every “USB controller” and “USB Hub” in that directory
– Shutdown your computer normally
– Unplug every USB cable going into your computer
– Turn it back on and wait for Windows to be fully started up
– Windows should automatically install all your USB controllers again, if it doesnt:
. – Open “Control Panel”
. – Open “Add/Remove Hardware”
. – Click Next and Windows should install your USB controllers
– open iTunes
– Reset your ipod just to be sure by holding the center and menu button at the same time
– plus the usb cable into the computer first, then the ipod
– pray and wait
– it SHOULD be back to normal
– let out a sigh of relief and plug back in all your other USB cableshttp://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?threadid=80321
Good luck!

December 28, 2005 at 5:19 pm #135254RabidKittenParticipantHow’s that working for you anyway, Qwerty? My buddy Addy got one for the holidays this year and says they’re pretty slick. *just curious*

January 2, 2006 at 11:25 pm #135251detn8rParticipantiPods are mearly an over priced MP3 player with a click wheel. Believe you me that you WILL have a problem with it. Whether it be your battery (which is most likely) or something else (possibly earbuds) it’ll happen. I’m currently on my second service (2 more for my no-lemon replacement :D).
