This is “from” Texas, but true anywhere that it’s hot!
YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN TEXAS IN JULY WHEN. . . .
The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
The trees are whistling for the dogs.
The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Hot water now comes out of both taps.
You can make sun! tea instantly.
You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron!
The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.
You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.
You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.
Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, “What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?”
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk.
Oh yeah, and air, pool, ocean and hot tub are all the same temperature.
Ah, what a place to call home.
God Bless Our State of TEXAS!!

Quote:You discover that in July it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car..I have do this lots till the steering wheel cools down… It burns badly if you put your whole hand… 😮
Oh and:
Quote:You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.Ha, one of my arms is darker than the other, since i get sunburn always on my left arm while driving.

It’s hot!

That fits my dad. He doesn’t care where a parking spot is in relation to the store, he just cares that he gets his car in the shade. I hope I’m not like that once I get my license.

I hope I’m not like that once I get my license.I’m opposite. I park where-ever the sun hits the most… Why? Well my car seems to want act like if it’s solar-powered when it comes to the radio. If i leave it under the shade, the radio stops working (this includes nighttime or cloudy days). But once i leave it under the sun, and it gets “heated up” the radio runs perfectly…
So for now, i look for sunny spots… (until i get my car checked out to see why it does this)
*note* No one would believe me till i showed them personally that i’m telling the truth!
July 30, 2006 at 5:57 am #149307detn8rParticipantTruth it is, even up here in Canada when on some days it gets up to 104 degrees (with humidity)!
The worst mistake is leaving your sun glasses on the bash board 🙁
Anyways, I seen this, and it definitly looks like a gotta have!

But once i leave it under the sun, and it gets “heated up” the radio runs perfectly…This sounds like a perfect querry for Car Talk where Click & Clack the Tappit Brothers (aka Tom and Ray Magliozzi) take calls from folks with seemingly weird problems (car problems, that is ;)) and solve them. It’s on National Public Radio stations and you can call them for advice. I think you’d have a great submission there! Go to “Our Lousy Radio Show” for more info, if you’re interested in calling.
And Graham . . . if you get one of those fans, let me know how they work. The commercials almost have me ready to call, but I want a real person to tell me if it’s worth it or not. Once a mini-van gets heated up, it takes forever to cool down since you can’t really open all the windows.

July 31, 2006 at 3:11 am #149316drainMemberI live near Omaha, NE and today it peaked at about 103 (heat index over 110). There was a huge outdoor concert that lasted all day today too. Heat + Rock concert = Definite heat exhaustion. I would’ve gone but my mom wouldn’t let me. 😡
Another time I was listening to the radio and the DJ was talking about how she was out somewhere and came back to her car and when she put her sunglasses on, the metal burnt her face. Now wouldn’t that look funny!
