Is it possible to recover missing contact list?

a friend of mine lost her list of yahoo contacts. she says there was some message error message about cookies, which she unfortunately doesnt remember.

i’ve tried deleting the cookies in her browser and had her login again ( i was thinking yahoo cookies were corrupted and that by logging in again the correct one could be restored). the result was still no contact list….

any suggestions?

Thats odd, as your friends list is not stored on your PC but on a Yahoo! server. Please ask your friend to try to remember exactly what message she got. Cookies dont have anything to do with friends list. I wonder is she even “really” getting logged into Yahoo! I know Yahoo! has been doing some changes and maybe her list was just lost?????

yeah, she is able to login. in fact she can even receive messages. there’s nobody on her list online or offline–all gone.

yea thats happened to me before on AIM
don’t know what to say except to make a new screen name but you can still talk with your freinds on that name, your list is just blank….sometimes forever and sometimes just for a couple minutes or few hours or days…..

I don’t think it would be possible for your buddy list to mysteriously vanish. Prolly what happened here is she accidentally deleted her friends list, or maybe possibly minimized it. Theres an arrow at the top of your buddy lists and if u click on it, it minimizes your buddy list. I never had it happen on yahoo, but on aim once, every time i logged in the buddy list was minimized, really annoying. And it’s not possible to find out your buddy list if u lost it, or lost access to the account.
I would reccommend going here: http://edit.yahoo.com/config/set_buddygrp
and copy an paste your buddy list, and save it onto your computer, that way if you ever lost it, or your account, you would have it saved on your pc. If it was that important you could save it onto disk.
