I don’t think that is possible. I think you have to leave your account alone until 60 days or so in order for it to be deactivated and probably could still use your Yahoo Messenger.

I’ll leave my mail account inactive for 60 days and see if that works. I don’t want to delete the account because i still use messenger, and i want the ID I have.
I was hoping there was a quicker solution…
I just tried one of my old Yahoo ID that I haven’t used in about a year. It won’t work on YIM (without logging in for the E-mail). I recall years ago, I was able to log in though I never bothered with the E-mail account.
Maybe someone here knows the answer for this.
I know you don’t want to use Yahoo! as your primary, but you could set up a POP account where your mail from this other account goes directly to Yahoo!. If all you really want to do is switch accounts that will work. If you want other features like the ones in incredimail…. try the forwarding option in Yahoo! which will forward your mail to another account. Those are the quick ways…. I think to keep an ID you have to have a mail account.
You can’t. I deleted a primary yahoo ID which i used for e-mail and chat and since then, even though its been a year, if I try it on messenger it says “account locked due to security reason”, although s’pposedly it should’ve become available in 60 days. If you dont want to use it for e-mail don’t . Just set up another account, but you delete it, youve lost it.

I think there is a procedure, and it is as follows. Have the old account cancelled. Start up a new account with a different ID. Use your old ID as a “sub Identity” to your new account. I know it used to work that way, but I’m not sure it still does. HTH.
I took this kids id one time, and it had two ids on the same account, the default name, and his email, a buddy of mine helped me delete the email, and then i remade it so the kid could still use it, i can’t recall exactly what i did, but i remember it being a pain in the butt, you can sign into http://www.my.yahoo.com then go here and try to delete the mail alias:
I remember that it reset his profile, theres some kinda exploit in yahoo that lets you reset your profile to the day the id was made, and still update it with your info
I don’t think that it will work, but u can try it, and if it don’t i will ask my friend he’s an expert about fixing yahoo! accounts.
Is it just me or do almost ALL of your little links have a “games.yahoo.com” element…what kind of games are you playing with us? Perhaps you should go onto “Oprah” as one of those crooks gone good and explain how to be good….OR have you really reformed your ways? I still don’t get where you are coming from Johnson.

READ what i said, if you aren’t signed into my yahoo on the browser you are using, and u goto the link it will ask u to login, it might even ask u to login even if u are already signed in, if you are paranoid, that its a fake login page check the url, login.yahoo.com theres no way to fake it, also sign in with a bogus password if you are curious about a fake login, if the bogus password works, then it’s a fake login, believe it or not im very impatient, when i help out my friends they just give me their passwords, much easier and faster, But in not gonna sit an ask for people’s passwords who dunno me, specially really PARANOID ones like most of the people on this forum, but theres nothing wrong with being paranoid maybe it will save you one day.
