we had a wave of problems after upgrading to live 2011 didn’t we?
first it wouldn’t send some messages while in chat
then it showed friends offline instead of online, even while chatting. it would require a disconnect and reconnect to fix the issue temp.
Are these bugs fixed ?
November 12, 2010 at 11:56 pm #177005Doris KenneyParticipantThere is a stable build of the new WLM. What build number are you using?

every server and msn version upgrade comes with its growing pains.
what i was asking is, is msn usable again ?
November 13, 2010 at 1:45 am #177006Doris KenneyParticipantThat is the stable version. WLM 2011 has always been usable. I’ve had it since the first beta release and have had very few issues with it. I never had a time when it was not functional. Since the stable version was released I’ve had no problems at all.
The online/offline problem was around even in the last version. Same thing with messages not being sent. From time to time these things happen. The are server related, not version related.
There will be some features of the new version that do not work if your contacts are still on XP and using the old version of the program. You’ll need to take these into account when looking at what is really a problem and what isn’t.
Links have also been disabled when they are sent to users using the old version. There is a malicious worm that has been spreading and the old version is not protected, so they have temporarily disabled active links. WLM 2011 however is not affected by this because of the additional security features – so you will still see active links if they are sent to you.
I’m not sure exactly what you are still experiencing in terms of problems, but there is no reason not to use the new version.
November 13, 2010 at 1:48 am #177010h0rnytoad1Memberi am using the new version.
the problems appeared after i installed it.
quick question, so anyone using XP can’t install live 2011 ?
November 13, 2010 at 12:27 pm #177007Doris KenneyParticipantThat is correct. WLM 2011 requires Vista or Windows 7 to run.
The 2009 version will continue to function for XP users (and anyone who hasn’t upgraded yet) but don’t expect to see any new versions or bug fixes in the old version.

November 13, 2010 at 4:36 pm #177011h0rnytoad1Memberanyway, we’ll just wait and see if they fix it. until then msn is unreliable. with each new version since v6 came out, things get worse and worse, bloated and slow. i’m fed up with all these problems.
January 29, 2011 at 10:05 am #177012mick5178Memberafter installing Windows Live Messenger 2011 (15.4.3508) for the first time, i had no troubles with it. but one day ago, i started having problems with it. normally, when i hover my mouse cursor over a friends name, and click send instant message. a chat window opens, to allow conversation. now but now, after hovering my mouse cursor over send instant message. the chat window does open down in the task bar, but the chat window will not show on the desktop! please help me solve this problem. i even uninstalled, then reinstalled windows live messenger. hoping that would solve my problem, but it didn’t. please help as i’m at a loss to what’s going on!!!!!
