March 7, 2005 at 10:33 pm #116384neo_ny_23MemberEarlier when two users were having voice chat, they used to have p2p connection, and which in turn let each user have a chance of getting the other user’s IP address. Then they can hack your computer using different tools (provided your computer is not secure due to lack of updated anti viruses ). But now Yahoo connects people through servers, so its no more p2p and there is no way one can get your IP address through voice chat.
Anyways. Sorry I was babbling something which u didnt ask. The answer to your question is NO. No one will possibly detect what you are taking on voice with your gf, unless he has some advance hacking tool, which I dont know about. Yeah if he hacks your computer, he might know what you or your gf is typing, but while talking on mic through voice chat, its tough, as far as I know.
But its always better to take precautions and secure your computer with proper anti viruses, adwares, and fire walls.
If any one knows that its possible to hear/detect people’s voice chat, then please let us know.

March 8, 2005 at 5:40 pm #116381NettiMemberYou asked a question, and the answer was NO. What else is there that you need to know? What other information are you looking for?

It is possible to get an IP address from a Voice Chat, wether it be in a pulbic room or through a PM/Voice Conference…
In terms of ‘eves dropping’ yes, that is also a possibility, since it is still creating some what of a room to allow yascom to transmit and recieve..
Ill do some digging to see how hard it would be to hijack voice sessions.
But to the best of my knowledge, there is a loose random hash associated with the Conference Name, so the likelyhood of someone actually eves dropping remotely is rather low.
March 9, 2005 at 3:29 pm #116382NettiMemberIsn’t that IN a conference only? That shouldn’t apply to p2p. You’d have to have both IP’s if you wanted to hijack the voice, dont’ you?
