Hi,
I have an 8 year old kid that likes to chat with his friends. However, he always closes the chat windows when someone enters his room and deletes the archives from his computer so that I cannot see them. Is there a Parental control option that gives me a way for me to login on another computer with his information and see the IM in which he is chatting and see what he is chatting about with his friends in realtime? Or a way for me to retreive his IM chat log from that other computer before he deletes them?
I have his username and password becuase I usually check his email with him to remove any adult content and he knows that I’m not trying to invade his privacy. I’m trying to teach him that I’m just deleting stuff not for kids his age. I trust that he is not doing anything bad, but with so many drugs and adult sites these days, I want to be sure he is not getting ahead of his age.
Thanks,

Yahoo! do not offer such options in it’s chat application.
However other third parties have made programs for monitoring IM and Chat content to work alongside Yahoo! and other popular IM services.
I will list some such programs for you to check out if you would like to try them.
Chat Watch download and review – monitor AOL, MSN, ICQ and Yahoo chats from SnapFiles
Yahoo! monitor,Yahoo! chat monitor,Yahoo! block,Block Yahoo! messenger
Download Yahoo Messenger Monitor Sniffer 3.0 Free – Monitor Yahoo Messenge conversations on LAN
Download Yahoo! Messenger Spy Monitor 2007 6.0 Free Trial – Log all Yahoo! Messenger text chats.
Hopefully some of these posted will help you out.

Is he just talking to his friends? How is his messenger set up?
At 8 years old, you should know exactly who he is talking to, and what he is doing while surfing the net – And not feel bad about it! The way I look at it, better safe than sorry.
