KeymasterWell it is not spoken of here at all and I have never seen it even mentioned. I realize this is not a messaging center for sports or sports chat. But the Yankees have lost, one more winter of thoughts of what might have been, a lost summer of hope now gone. I was there at game four as they won and as I drove home I thought only of this night. Now at almost two in the morning as I sit here and ponder all of what might of been, I see all in my life that might have been. So I take a deep inhale and realize it is only a game. Much like life especially on the web, it is truly only a game. For true life is not measured by a teams win or losses, but by your own wins. Losses are for the past and may all our losses always be easily forgotten if we can.

MemberWe do talk about sports, if you have a look about in this section there are quite a few threads regarding sports topics.
Anyway, sorry your team lost, but like you say it is only a game. So let’s hope you team has better luck next season! Fingers crossed for you and them.
Not really sure what your trying to say on the rest of your message regarding life on the web and it being a game, depends I suppose what you are doing on the web!
But I agree with your comments regarding losses in life, it would be fantastic if every time we lost in life it was easily forgotten, sadly that is not always the case.. Soooo here is to winning hey.. :0)

MemberHaha. I know how your feeling mate.
It’s been just 3 weeks since my team lost the AFL Grandfinal by less than a goal.
One of the closest games ever.
But you get over it. Bad luck mate. 😛

MemberI’m glad the Yankees lost. I hate them. I’d rather see any team win. Better chance of the BoSox though!

MemberI’m very glad that I live right around Chicago now, no offense to other teams, but I’d really like to see the White Sox win the championship this year, they’ve tried so hard, and this has been one of their best years.
And that’s coming from a Cubs fan. :p

KeymasterGossi I have never really understood the blind hatred that is felt for the Yanks. Is winning such a bad thing? An organization that seeks greatness? I have seen such blinding hatred of the Yankees all my life. Maybe oneday I will understand, like many things dealing with hate. Hate is stronger than love in todays times I fear. So get a few tickets to a Yankee game next year, come to the park have some fun and wipe one less thing for you to hate off your lifes agenda.

Memberyeah me and my room-mates were pretty much optimistic even till the last pitch. But, sadly the Yankees lost. But I am sure they will come back next year.

ParticipantBeing from Anaheim, I am thrilled that the Angels are in the ALCS. My dad is a big Sox fan, so it’s fun to watch the series at our house. 😀
That game tonight though…there were a lot of sloppy plays, and that whole catcher dispute

ParticipantSo Cards!!!
Seeing a team like the yanks where just their pitchers exceeded the payroll of the whole of the Blue Jays makes me think what kind of team they have. $200-million to be knocked out this early? hahaha!!!

KeymasterWow you know thier payroll!!!!!! Good for you quite the sports genius huh. By the way they have won 8 straight eastern championships. Keep that thought in mind. One more thing they have the biggest payroll its true but just the franchise merchandise they sell covers the payroll. One perk of being in this state where people dont hold money tighter than their jocks. Just food for thought also that doesnt include ticket sales or TV rights. Which Steinbrenner owns anyway lol. Keep hatin junior maybe one day you will understand. lol

Participantwtf are you talking about? You sound like so many arrogant Maple Leaf fans in the NHL. No where did I say I hated the team.
The fact that you think everything is ‘over’ because NY didn’t win makes it known what kind of a person you are, arrogant. I don’t give a rats ass for MLB. I’m a Canadian. We have 1 team, and they stink. I’m cheering for the Cards because they have a Canadian pitcher.
How the Yanks need to spend that much money to win only states that they need to win. Hell, as I said they’re whole pitching lineup’s payroll exceeds the Blue Jays’. Roy Halladay won the Cy-Young last year with like 35 wins, and I’m positive he would have won it again this year with his record of 12 and 4 if he didn’t have a ball batted at his legs.
Take a seat buddy, the only sport genius here seems to be the arrogant Yankees fans, who seem to think the world of MLB revolves around them.

Memberyou’re right, det, that’s why i don’t like the yankees. they think they are better than everyone else.
October 16, 2005 at 11:39 pm #131637neo_ny_23
MemberIts too wrong to stereo-type the yankee fans or the red sox fans. If thats the case then, any yankee fan can say a bunch of stuff for both det and rachel here. But this topic is more or less is a discussion about the Yankees not being able to make it, not for mud throwing contest among the fans here. I am a die hard Yankee fan. They lost the game, and personally I also believe that their pitching sucked and let them down. Yeah they are paid most, but thats not always a judgement that if a team is paid more, it HAS to perform all the time. So, stop being childish, and one should understand the spirit of sportmanship, doesnt matter which team you support. Last year Red Sox won, but I didnt come around to these topics flaming against them or writing stuff like “I hate Red Sox…” type of crap. Its just a game. Enjoy it, and get over it. Dont fight over it.

ParticipantQuote:Keep hatin junior maybe one day you will understand. lolI want to know what exactly I don’t understand. Is it the fact you are trying to state that the New York Yankees organization or their head office owns and operates everything that generates their income? In which case he has a very successful business running? Or is it that he needs to spend that much money to win 8 consecutive eastern championships. The Blue Jays franchise is built around first round picks. We have a few veterans, but we also did very well for being the type of team we are. Hell, we finished above the Royals, Mariners, Tampa Bay, Detroit, Baltimore.. I could go on… A business who buys players for the purpose of destroying other teams only to loose says that they have no team chemistry. You put that much talent on one team and have them compete for popularity is ridiculous. The MLB has a salary cap (as far as I know) and New York shattered it. WHAT exactly are they trying to state? Obviously no Yankees fan is going to come up and say, hell we stunk. No, because they are pumped full of “we are the best”.. “we are the center of baseball” “we own everything”. It’s the exact same way with the Maple Leafs, as I said before with the NHL. Toronto is the “mecca” of hockey. It’s always been like that and it’s always going to be like that.
Hell, maybe Bill Gates should start another team in California and spend a billion dollars on his payroll (because he can!) and laugh at everyone and tell them they suck because he has the most money.
I’m not a tit, don’t treat me as such, sir.
