This is a neat little puzzle I found online.
There are 8 people and they all have to use a raft to cross the river.
The following rules apply:- Only 2 persons on the raft at a time
- The father can not stay with any of the daughters, without their mother’s presence
- The mother can not stay with any of the sons, without their father’s presence
- The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any family member,if the Policeman is not there
- Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft
It’s tricky, but it can be done.

Good find!

October 10, 2006 at 8:28 pm #153235MrEggsaladParticipantWow, that was a lot of fun, and a challenge! My friend and I were trying to see who could do it first, I won 😛 It took me probably 15 min or so to do it. That was fun!

Here is how you do it in 10 steps:
1. take police and thief to other side, and take the police back.
2. then police and son there, police and thief back.
3. then dad and son over, dad back.
4. mom and dad over, mom back.
5. police and theif over, dad back.
6. mom and dad over, mom back.
7. mom and daugnter over, police and theif back.
8. police and daughter over, police back.
9. police and thief over
10. You win (not an actual step, but I couldn’t say “heres how you do it in 9 steps” could I?) -
