Can someone recommend some good horror films please? I love horror films but the last few i’ve seen have been complete crap with Jason X the worst out of the lot. Someone shouting BOO! would’ve been scarier.
Jason X is one of the most stupid films i’ve ever seen. It’s like all the other friday the 13th films… but on a spaceship, which adds absolutely nothing to it at all. Why do they make one good film and then spoil it with pointless sequels? This also includes halloween and a nightmare on elm street. The characters are still as stupid as in the past. (e.g. lets run away into a dead end)
1) They’ve had 2000 years to realise that Jason does not die. However when they “kill him” they turn away and get a machete in the back.
2) Highlight (sorry just found the spoiler code hehe fun) they blow him up but then leave whats left of him on a machine that can heal wounds, so obviously he comes back to life but half robot. (told you it was stupid)
3) It just generally stupid. Dont watch it. it wasted an hour and a half of my life when instead I could’ve been doing something much more enjoyable, like repeatedly hitting myself in the head.
Other stupid ones include Gothika though that was just watchable but was too predictable. Me and my friends worked it out half an hour before the film finished.
Has anyone else seen this film and disagree with me?
Also, please recommend some horror films that will actually scare me!!April 16, 2004 at 11:12 pm #81047Penguin HunterMemberWhat about…:mad:Scooby Doo 2:mad:? I watched it a couple of weeks ago and still wake up in the middle of the night screaming!:p
April 16, 2004 at 11:13 pm #81040MartinBradleyMemberTry the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. For its time, it is a good horror film. Other horror films which i’d recommend are:
– A Nightmare On Elm Street (1-6, I seem to remember number 7 being a bit poor)
– The Exorcist
– The Sixth Sense
– 28 Days LaterThey should keep you going for a while, enjoy!
April 16, 2004 at 11:20 pm #81046Penguin HunterMemberThe Sixth Sense is CR*P, I’m being serious this time when I say Scooby Doo 2 was scarier.
The Plot was weak, I saw the stupid little twist about 5 minutes after he got shot, then I fell asleep for half an hour, the first time I saw it. The second time I was determined to watch all of it so I drank loads of Coffee and Had 2 Pro Plus pills and I was still nodding off.
I recomentd Shaun of the Dead, which we are going to see tomorrow, Red.April 17, 2004 at 8:48 pm #81042Red DevilMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by martin_bradley2002Try the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. For its time, it is a good horror film. Other horror films which i’d recommend are:

I wouldn’t say the sixth sense was crap but it wasn’t scary at all. Ive seen a lot of a nightmare on elm street 1 and it was quite good but I dont think its worth seing 6 sequels as they tend to ruin the series. This is one of my major complaints about horror films. 1 quality film and then the same film over and over again. The same thing happened with halloween and friday the 13th.
However, 28 days later and the texas chainsaw massacre look good. I may have to rent those..
Also if anyone wants to see a really funny Zombie spoof, go see shaun of the dead. It had me in stiches.
April 18, 2004 at 9:32 pm #81045Penguin HunterMemberShaun of the Dead is one of the best Spoof Horror films in the world. It is well worth seeing, but it’s not for those who don’t like seeing guts being ripped out and eaten right in front of you! Seriously!!
April 18, 2004 at 9:47 pm #81039MartinBradleyMemberSixth Sense isn’t really scary, I just liked the way it was constructed. Then again I am a Film Studies student so I guess i’d look at it differently to those who arn’t.
April 18, 2004 at 10:26 pm #81043Crazy PenguinMemberi agree Jason X is really rubbish, I saw some of it the other day, but frankly I got bred after watching it for 10 minutes as it was incredibly boring and not scary at all. Oh and as to your point about them having 2000 years to realise taht jason does not die, well when have we ever learnt anything from history… we’ve had 10000 years to figure out taht wars not a bad idea, but we keep on having them.
gothika was I agree watchable, but as you said we all figure dout the plot after watching it for half an hour, so the hour we spent watching the rest was just watchig I t unfold, which got quite boring. (However the penguins which appeared in it from time to time were funny)
Oh and penguin hunter and red devil, you were going to see shaun of the Dead and you didnt tell me!!! someone is going to suffer for this!
I would think up some scary horror films but taht would require diverting my braincells from plotting numerous tortures for you…. 🙁

May 10, 2004 at 3:46 pm #81048El DiabloMemberI think Jason X could of been better if it was longer and showed more of ‘the new Jason’ scenes.
But I still liked the movieMay 10, 2004 at 4:09 pm #81041Red DevilMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by El DiabloI think Jason X could of been better if it was longer and showed more of ‘the new Jason’ scenes.
But I still liked the movieThe new Jason scenes were crap. It was him… but half robot. Wow… lets get excited. It didnt change anything in the film at all. It was just a stupid way of bringing him back to life AGAIN. it wasnt even remotely scary as id seen it all before. It’s amazing it was ever made because the plot is so unbelievably awful.
May 10, 2004 at 4:43 pm #81044Penguin HunterMemberHe was half Robot? :eek:AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!! That’s Uber-scary seriously I don’t know why you weren’t scared I am and I havn’t even seen the film.;)
