I have had a problem with my java for a very long time. I have Sun Java but that doesn't do much for me. So I came here hoping someone could help me. My main problem is that java windows don't open and that is what I was hoping to get help with.
Can you provide an example of a page that doesn't work? Have you downloaded the latest version of Java at http://www.java.com/en/index.jsp ?
A page that doesn't work, for example, is Launch at Yahoo.com. If I wanted to watch music videos, the player opens in a java window. But when I click on a link to play the video it doesn't open the window. And yes I have the latest version of Sun Java installed.
Check your Java settings, go to internet options, advanced tab. Is ‘use Java 2 v1.4.2_05 for (requires restart)' checked? Also see if you have a section for Microsoft VM in there, if so what is checked? I had a lot of problems with sun java and after I switched to the Microsoft VM it ran perfectly… If you don't have Microsoft VM and want to try it out let me know.
