I’ve been AFK for a while and things were supposed to be getting better for me, but I’ve taken another hit. I’m up in Seattle, trying to get ready to move all my stuff and drive home to San Antonio and it’s been tough, but progressing well…until yesterday. With the plethora of medications I’m on for depression & anxiety (the main ones for me), I took an Aspirin yesterday afternoon because that was all my friend had for painkillers–this was my first time to ever take Aspirin. When we were driving back for me to get my car and ask the bar if anybody found my wallet, I started feeling very weird. It seemed to be typical withdrawal symptoms if I forget to take my morning meds, which I did forget, but it got very bad very quickly and I called my sister, a pharmacist, to ask if I was having an allergic reaction to the Aspirin…she wasn’t sure, but said to call 911 because she thought it was something, which I forgot the name of. I couldn’t talk to the 911 operator after about 30 seconds because I couldn’t move my mouth, fortunately my buddy could talk to them. Three ambulances came to where I was and (what I assume was) a toxicologist and about 8-9 others came to me, and immediately connected me to many things and started asking what meds I was on, and the whole 9 yards. The toxicologist thought it wasn’t an allergic reaction close to 10 minutes later, but sent me to the ER because my hands were purple and I was having extreme difficulty moving any muscles, or even breathing. From everything I said, and I mentioned panic attacks, he thought it was a severe panic attack but wasn’t 100% sure because he thought I might be having a “something-or-other”, which is what my sister thought as well, which is why she told me to call 911. It turns out that’s what it was…a severe panic attack. I’ve never had one this badly, or with symptoms that had me temporarily paralyzed to the point where I couldn’t even talk to the 911 operator.
So I was off to the ER and then to the “Psych Ward” of the hospital because I was so frustrated and embarrassed about the out-of-control panic attack that I was having bad thoughts…so I hung out there for a while to calm down. Now things are ok, but I’ve lost my wallet and amdupset about that. This whole event makes sense and has happened before on a much smaller scale; because panic attacks contain both psychological and physiological symptoms, one causes the other and vice versa…the physiological symptoms caused the psychological symptoms (worrying, nervousness, etc) and then those, in turn, caused worse physiological symptoms.
So I’ll still be afk for a bit until I settle in to my apartment (which I have yet to find) in SA. I’ll be driving home later this week or next week and would like to meet any of the staffers that live along the way…I’ll go from Seattle, South through Oregon and then down the coast on highway 1/101, and then to San Diego to visit a couple of friends. That’s my story for now, and I apologize for not being able to keep up with the workload in the AIM forums, but maybe I’ll have another good burst of positive (manic, really) energy and will hit the forums hard for a few days.

For heaven’s sake, take all the time you need! You know BBB will always be here and ready for you when you are ready for us 😉
Take care, Jon – and if you find yourself re-routed through Ohio – do stop by!

June 26, 2007 at 3:18 am #162390LucifinaMemberHiya Jon! I know how awful that felt…I had one similiar years ago. Thankfully nothing that bad has happened since. Just remember take one thing at a time with a deap breath and slow exhale. We’ll be thinking of and praying for you. Take care.
If you’d be around LA I’d say come for some southern hospitality 😀 .
June 30, 2007 at 7:46 am #162391Jon8RFCMemberThanks for the support…I really do appreciate it.
A nice turn of events is that PayPal contacted me, because they had been contacted about a wallet that had been found with a PayPal credit card. So I have my wallet back, minus some cash, but I’m so relieved to have it and the contents back…AND, in great condition, for being found out on a highway that I haven’t been on since December.
Thanks again, all of y’all (heh…the south’s plural of y’all!) at BBB are a great bunch of people to be around, too bad there isn’t a way to convert this digital hang-out to analog :/
