For those unaware, the States have several televised court shows where people sue others on national TV.
This clip of a show is about Judge Judy just destroying an eBay scammer. If you’ve ever bought something on eBay and got scammed or short ended, this really makes you smile =)

I have watched a few of her shows, they are generally quite simple cases, the normal dregs that go through my Magistrates court every Thursday, especially in my local court. The average, from the ones that get in to fights on Sat night, muggers/shoplifters all that sort of thing.
Wish we could see more Crown Court or even County Court cases in the public view more. But then that would be above the normal publics interest.
The cases we deal with are never over in 20 minutes sometimes they run into full days or more. But hey give me contract law any time of the day than criminal. Love my job!:DBut yes rock on Judge Judy on this one 😉

The defendant had absolutely no regret about the scam. None. Amazing.
June 29, 2008 at 10:19 pm #170300FanaticMemberThe sad thing is, if this case had been tried in a real court, they ruling would have probably been in favor of the defendant. She advertised that she was selling a photo (even though the winning bidder thought they were buying a phone). Yes, it was clearly a scam. Yes, in this case, Judge Judy served justice. But very likely in a real courtroom, they would’ve ruled that the complaintant should’ve read the fine print.
And for those of you outside the US, Judy Judy is not part of the real judicial system in the U.S. 😉

It’s not part of the normal court system.
June 29, 2008 at 11:44 pm #170304TigerbladeParticipantWhich is why, in cases like this, I’m glad to see the people go to arbitration instead. Because otherwise the system would have screwed over someone who already got screwed over.
