Was wondering if anyone else noticed this somewhere else on the forums… in this thread (https://bigblueball.com/forums/msn-messenger-support/17420-error-code-1601-1603-solutions-7.html) specifically post number 126, it looks like there is a forum code error, such as the one we got when switching over from Snitz. Anyone have a clue what’s up? That post was made on Aug. 1 2006.

August 3, 2006 at 2:06 am #149779TigerbladeParticipantare you talking about the &.gt; thing? it’s just a character code (for the < character) that doesn't display because html code is disabled.
that is, if that’s what you’re talking about.
August 3, 2006 at 2:54 am #149781SpikeMemberI think he’s referring to
Quote:1. Click on Start -&.gt; Find -&.gt; Files or FoldersYeah, when we upgraded, any existing tags were converted to their HTML-friendly equivalents (&.gt; and &.lt;, minus the dots) So it should look like:
Quote:1. Click on Start -> Find -> Files or FoldersIt’s such an old post, though, it doesn’t really matter.
August 3, 2006 at 10:27 pm #149776detn8rParticipantPosted: Yesterday, 12:58 PM (obviously after the forum change). And even if they did post in HTML, shouldn’t the WYSIWYG editor have picked it up and translated it?
August 3, 2006 at 11:23 pm #149782SpikeMemberHm.
This is copied and pasted (with the HTML-ized part (the &)):
1. Click on Start -> Find -> Files or Folders
If you see it properly, then I have no idea why it wouldn’t have parsed it. If you see the code with the & then you can’t have a dash before it and that user didn’t type it properly.
Edit: It parsed it. I have no idea what’s going on. (It’s not because of the HTML or No HTML per forum, this parses anyway)
August 3, 2006 at 11:29 pm #149777detn8rParticipanttest: 1. Click on Start -&.gt; Find -&.gt; Files or Folders
Copy and paste on a web browser that doesn’t support WYSIWYG could have caused it. They might have just copied and pasted an earlier post by using Opera or equivalent.
August 3, 2006 at 11:58 pm #149780TigerbladeParticipantexcept… it isn’t supposed to be &.gt; — that period in there isn’t supposed to be there. if i omit that period, you should see a right-pointing bracket here: >
August 4, 2006 at 12:53 am #149783SpikeMemberYou know, det has a point. I’ll bet you anything it’s the stupid WYSIWYG box. Let’s test it:
If there are brackets there, like this: then I’m wrong. If you see the HTML-friendly text, then it’s the WYSIWYG box.
Edit: HAH! Det, you’re good. :woot: This means that anyone using the standard box (This EXCLUDES quick reply boxed and fast post edit boxes) won’t be able to parse HTML character codes like that. Oh, well, it’s a bug. Meh.
August 4, 2006 at 2:18 am #149775Jeff HesterKeymasterWhat exactly is the problem? I’m lost!
August 4, 2006 at 3:09 am #149784SpikeMemberIt isn’t a problem, it’s more of a feature.
When using the WYSIWYG editor, HTML-friendly characters, like
