Hey movie fans, just a simple little question for you. After buying Kill Bill and watching it (mainly due to all the hype-and darryl hannah 😀 ) I for one feel very disappointed even though the special effects were “ok.” Personally I say thumbs down- forget about Bill, they should kill the makers. How about you?
April 22, 2004 at 6:12 pm #46386shifterMemberYou bought Kill Bill for the Special Effects? I don’t understand that at all. Kill Bill Vol 1. is a violent gorge of graphic mayhem. This isn’t an effects driven movie. Its an action driven movie. I’ve become dulled to movies usual use of mundane violence, but Tarantino managed to shock me with his absurdly exaggerated violent carnage in this film. The movie is fractured, like Reservoir Dogs & Pulp Fiction, and does its best to unsettle, enthrall and provoke us. Tarantino even worked in a 10 minute Japanese anime scene. [:o] Yes, the storyline is plain and simple for Vol.1, (A woman seeking revenge) but I’m sure it will develop more in the second. The movie isn’t quite a masterpiece, but its a great break from the tried and true. I’m a big Tarantino fan, and I wasn’t disappointed with Kill Bill Vol.1. I haven’t seen Vol.2 yet, but I will.
April 22, 2004 at 6:26 pm #46383Jeff HesterKeymasterKill Bill Vol. 1 rocks!
In a land where everything is either a sequel, a remake or a comic book conversion, Kill Bill thrilled. Tarantino is innovative and entertaining. I plan to see Vol. 2 this weekend at the local theater (my sons have seen Vol. 2 already, and loved it).
I have to agree with Shifter; I would never have thought of Kill Bill as a special-effects movie (although there is plenty of that in the fight scenes). It’s an engrossing story that draws you in. Yes, he uses a lot of campy, classic hooks, but it works like a charm.
The attention to detail is fantastic. Anyone notice the brand of cereal that Vernita Green was pouring for her daughter before she pulled the trigger? Kabooms! Gotta love his subtle sense of humor.
By the way, there are over 20 new Kill Bill buddy icons over at HisBuddyIcons.com.
April 27, 2004 at 3:40 pm #46385OreoMemberI just rented it from my local Blockbuster. Why buy something if you don’t know you will like it?? I rented it b/c my husband and I want to see the 2nd one in theaters…which we will tonight or tomorrow. 🙂 I’m looking forward to seeing her actaully get to Bill.
April 27, 2004 at 5:33 pm #46389doc rockMemberNormally, I buy 3-5 DVD’s each week. I am an avid movie collector and buy movies that my family wants to see, not just for myself. To clarify on Shifter’s post, I didn’t buy it for the special effects. I was merely stating that the effects (mainly the fighting sequences) were “ok.” Many people like Quentin Tarrantino’s films. I watch them, but I just don’t really care for his style, although I did enjoy Pulp Fiction. Of course, I can’t argue about his success – his films always do well.
July 1, 2004 at 9:27 am #46391CoxsackieVirusMemberThe Kill Bill vol. 1 was ok, but I haven’t seen vol. 2. I think It was one of the best movies ever, exept lucy lu dieing .
July 1, 2004 at 6:27 pm #46388plastidcellsMemberI’m confused by the poll. I’m not exactly sure what the option ‘Kill Bill’ is referring to… So I voted ‘Neither, it was a masterpiece’
Part of the reason why I like it so much is that it’s different. Nowadays movies seem to very similar in many aspects excluding plot I would suppose. Kill Bill may have an unoriginal plot (Someone wants revenge), but Tarantino’s style sets it apart from other movies. And everybody likes a change every now and then.

You contradict yourself by saying Kill Bill was just ‘ok’ but it happens to be ‘one of the best movies ever.’ Does that make sense? Clearly your post has no substance or thought put into it. Could it be that you’re just trying to up your post count? And you give away the ending for people who haven’t seen Kill Bill 1 yet?July 1, 2004 at 10:08 pm #46387Red DevilMemberQuote:quote:Originally posted by CoxsackieVirusThe Kill Bill vol. 1 was ok, but I haven’t seen vol. 2. Coxsackievirus, heres some points you may wish to consider…
1) Put some thought into your posts and actually check them to make sure they make sense. To be honest, I think that if you’d posted this much crap in most other forums, you’d have been banned by your 10th post
2) If your going to give away spoilers, use the spoiler tags and
3) dieing is spelt dying
4)STOP SPAMMING!!
i know I should leave this to moderators but 75 useless posts is a bit too much…
Anyway, to Kill Bill… I voted for masterpiece. I havn’t seen the second one yet as i’ve been too busy recently but the first one’s fight scenes blew me away. I enjoyed the plot and thought the inclusion of the anime style cartoon were also brilliant. Not Tarantino’s best film (that goes to pulp fiction in my opinion. The dialogue is much better) but still a brilliant film.

August 9, 2004 at 7:27 pm #46384PhilMemberI just saw Kill Bill 2 and I thought they were both good. Quentin Tarantino is quite messed up in the head but he does a good job at telling a story!
