I have a relative who uses AOL. They said that for the past two weeks they keep getting “knock knock” IMs everynight at around the same time. They have no idea who they are from and it’s always a different screen name.
When they say “knock knock”, I don’t know if they mean the message actually says that or if they mean something else. A Google search showed that if a person not on your buddylist IMs you, you’ll get a “knock knock” notice and you have to decide if you want to allow the message or not.
However, I’m fairly sure that they have their privacy settings set to only allow IMs from people on their buddylist. So they shouldn’t be receiving these other IMs.
Any ideas on what this is? My first thought was that it’s a virus or worm. My second thought was that it’s one of those stupid AI bots.
