I had just recently downloaded and installed winXp security updates and now YM is kinda freaking out. Every time I open a IM window I get a “internet explorer script error” window with the message:
An error has occurred in the script on this page
line: 107
Char: 2
Error: Access is denied
Code: 0
URL: file://H:DOCUME~1AnyoneLOCALS~1TempTMP2D5.tmp
Then askes if you want to continue running scripts on this page
Clicking yes or no makes no differencewhen you open the window, it seems that it does not allow YM to allow to change the font setting. everything is in Romans and the blue information box is gone too. its not really a big deal to me but, I seem to be getting “Ypager.exe caused an error and needs to shut down” much much more now =( Does anyone know if Ypager crashes could be related to this latest XP security update and, if so, does anyone have suggestions on what i could do to fix it?
ThanX
EJune 18, 2006 at 1:48 pm #146555bronxyMemberSomething happens on my end as well. This started happening right after I installed the latest XP updates:
I go to open a webcam connection on YM and the thing starts to freeze a bit, and then gives me an internet explorer error, which I am forced to click and then I get knocked off the entire internet and must restart my pc. I have reinstalled YM a few times, and my webcam software so I know it’s none of that stuff..
hmm.
June 18, 2006 at 7:16 pm #146559StrigoiMemberWhat version of Y! messenger do you use and which XP,SP1 or 2?
June 18, 2006 at 7:49 pm #146556bronxyMemberI am using the latest YM and Windows XP SP2
June 19, 2006 at 12:19 am #146562timmoMemberI am having the exact same problem here and I am using YM 7.5 / XP SP2 …
Lazy ? … did you happen to install the phishing filter add in at the time that you updated security ? ….. just trying to get a handle on thisJune 19, 2006 at 2:59 am #146560Lazy_slackerMemberHI,
oh no! Even more problems!! =) Now i can no longer enter public chatrooms. As soon as i attempt to, the same script error window pops up and “Ypager has caused an error and needs to close.” crash!!! Kinda brings me back to the good ol’ blue screen days with win95. hee hee hee.
Ummmm, i am using winXP SP2 and Yahoo’s latest, tried re-installing but nothing changed. =( As far as the phish filter, i’m not sure. I only did the security updates that MS provided. I think there were a total of 8, but I didn’t hang around to watch. (it was dinner time and my stomach decided to be top priority)
well, now i feel a little better, I know its not just me =)
June 19, 2006 at 8:45 am #146558StrigoiMemberWell i dont see anything “brutal” happening to YM but then again i’ve been using Trillian for the past few months.Anyway i just signed back into YM and went to the chatroom and that works but for some reason the messenger takes a long long time to refresh and for a while the parts that had been covered by something else just stay white. Its nothing good what ever it is but i still hope they sort it out SOON.
June 19, 2006 at 1:42 pm #146561Lazy_slackerMemberpossible solution?
It seems that all of the security udate program files are listed in the add/remove programs listing, i wonder if removing them would cure the problem? I was able to find a detailed description about what each file update does.I’ll post them and maybe someone can offer some insight as to which one should be removed(if removing would cure)?http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=911280
MS06-025: Vulnerability in Routing and Remote Access could allow remote code executionhttp://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=917344

MS06-021: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorerthese are links to a description page that defines what these latest patches do.
I think what is happening is that Yahoo uses html/css scripting for its window formats. And, i guess the new udates are not allowing script (or Yahoo inner scripting) to be run outside of IExplorer?
Almost forgot!!! The file where is says there is an error contains these commands:
“
“
“
“
““<BODY TOPMARGIN=0 LEFTMARGIN=0 BOTTOMMARGIN=0 RIGHTMARGIN=0 BGCOLOR=WHITE
SCROLL=NO>
“
“function loadSource(s){document.body.innerHTML=s;}
“
“
“I’m not an expert, just a logical guess, i guess =) All opinions and possible solutions are welcome. very very very very very very very very welcome indeed.
ThanX

June 20, 2006 at 5:54 pm #146554NettiMemberAlso keep in mind that some of the Windows XP updates, turn your internal XP firewall Back on.
If you’re having problems, turn this off, and see if it helps.
