MemberThe only thing I have ever used is Win95/98/XP, so I don’t know too much about Linux. However, I have never had to many problems with Microsoft, like everyone else seems to have.

I got some source code files… but I didn’t know what to click on. So I went to the ReadMe, and it said something like “To build, type $ ./configure ” …but I don’t know where to type what.January 12, 2005 at 4:48 am #111519Lurking_Biohazard

I’ve even gotten XP to go wonky!I may be a linux noob, but the more I learn about it, the more I like it.

Of course I get the occasional virus, but that’s my fault, not XP’s. Other than that though, not really any complaints.

Use ‘cd’ to change directory, and ‘ls’ to display a list of files. Say you saved tmsnc-0.1.5.tgz in /root/, you’d use these commands:
[root@Universe /]# cd /root
[root@Universe root]# tar -zxf tmsnc-0.1.5.tgz
[root@Universe root]# cd tmsnc-0.1.5
[root@Universe tmsnc-0.1.5]# ls
{ List of files }
[root@Universe tmsnc-0.1.5]# ./configure
{ Check Configuration }
[root@Universe tmsnc-0.1.5]# make
{ Make commands }
[root@Universe tmsnc-0.1.5]# make install
{ Install commands }
[root@Universe tmsnc-0.1.5]#
It’s not really that hard, you get the hang of it quickly.
