Live Messenger help….

Basically, none of my contacts were showing online, so I deleted all my contact and re-added them, this fixed this issue, but I still have a problem. I am unable to change my screen name or message. It is stuck at what I had before I installed live messanger. I deleted it, and re-installed, deleted it and deleted any instance I could find in the registry but nothing worked. Any help would be appreciated.
