Right now I have a Samsung x427 cell phone, and i don’t really like it, it lacks some things I want and I think it’s time I upgrade.
Heres what I’m looking for in a phone:
* Clean GUI, I like the Samsung OS, I hate the LG OS’s, Nokia is okay.
* Speaker phone
* Ability to connect to my computer and use as a modem to get online. (big one)
* Compatible with Cingular wireless, it’d be nice if I could just swap my SIM and not have to do anything else.Any ideas?
August 11, 2005 at 9:51 pm #127372AqeelParticipantWell here is the site you can view phones, compare them, user reviews and all the major cell phone companies model’s are there.
http://www.gsmarena.comBut I would suggest you to try any Sony Ericsson phone, with great GUI and sophisticated options, really great features. Mostly as compare to Nokia and Samsung they are also cheap but their low price dosen’t affect their quality.:)

I hv special liking for flip cell phones which can be folded. I think i would like to have some cell phone which looks similar to x427 but has better ringtones and quality, which has a cam, and able to connect it to my computer.
The good thing is that, am just being patient and next year by this time, I will upgrade to a much better cell phone.
Oh btw, Cingular rocks.
August 13, 2005 at 4:37 pm #127368sarahtownyMemberI am looking for a new phone at the moment – going for a Nokia I think, but in the uk we dont have Cingular – even if Neo loves it, we have Orange, O2 and a few others – and not in to flips either lol, all I want in my phone is a camera, internet, and text text so I can yap yap yap with my buddies. Not a big deal. Oh might get a Sony — ahhh the choice is too big!!!
August 13, 2005 at 8:58 pm #127364RabidKittenParticipantI personally enjoy my Caller ID Phone from Sprint…it has a really long cord on it, and a pleasant little ring that you can turn off when you’re sleeping. Plus the buttons are huge so you can read them even with your glasses off.
*cough…shifty look around* .. … … Oh…right. Silly me *wander* Good luck with that *wink*

August 13, 2005 at 11:53 pm #127361OreoMemberSprint actually has a phone just like you mentioned…but that would be something you would have to switch companies for and what not. What I would suggest, is going to Cingular’s website and looking at the selection they have. If it’s anything like Sprint’s site, you can look at the phone, all angles, features and whatnot. Also, go to a store and just futz around. Act like a complete newbie…(just ask the silly kinds of questions I ask you from time to time) and they will explain the phones forward and backward. Or, just stop in and tell them EXACTLY what you want. My guess is they want to make a sale and they will find you what you need. 🙂 Good Luck!

I don’t need my phone to have the internet, that’s what my computer is for. The only thing that I was really looking for in a phone was that is was flip, so I wouldn’t have to press any annoying keys to lock the phone. I also needed it to have speaker phone, since I’m always on the go.
The camera came in handy last week though. I was driving to work and had to stop in the middle of the road for some stupid bear cub that was crossing. I got a nice shot of it though!

Maybe I’m just lazy. 🙂
August 14, 2005 at 5:42 am #127367neo_ny_23MemberYeah I agree with Rachel. But i dont know why u think Cingular sucks. Mine is Cingular and I had no problems with it whatsoever.. even my friends had other services and some times during hiking their service drops but not mine. I love my Cingular and also my flip phone. I just wish it had a nice cam and some better ring tones.

I thought when the phone rings you just answer it even if it’s locked. The lock removes just for you to answer, then after you hang up, it relocks.August 14, 2005 at 5:17 pm #127371DrBroccoliParticipanthatedjealousy wrote:I thought when the phone rings you just answer it even if it’s locked. Even the newer non-flip phone are like that, my friends have them, although I do have a flip now. I may also suggest http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/finder.php it allows you to find a phone by features (every little feature you can think of) and carrier… ;)… there ya go Dave. Just make sure you go to the extended tab at the top, and BTW CDMA is the network for higher speed wireless internet on the phone, but I beileve Cingular uses the EGPRS (EDGE) network which is around 44k, compared to CDMA which is 40-144k.
