My computer crashed but they were able to back up my hard drive. How can I find my buddy list so I don’t have to re-enter all my buddies? Thanks. Mike
What version of AIM did you use before your computer crashed? You might be able to see all of your buddy list if you are using the latest AIM.
EDIT- you might want to try using AIM Express (http://www.aim.com/get_aim/express) = maybe you will be luck seeing your buddy list again.
Did all of you buddies get deleted off the buddy list? If they didn’t get deleted, only thing you have to do is sign back on to AIM and your buddies should be there.
Isn’t the buddylist stored on the AIM servers? If that’s the case, you don’t have to worry about it, it will be there when you sign into your name.
Yes, they are all stored on the servers, and you should be able to access them even if you have a HD crash. I believe everything is stored on the servers except for the actual messages. If you had logs from programs such as Deadaim or middleman or you saved conversations in AIM they will be lost, as they are stored on your computer.
Away messages are also not stored on the server. It actually seems in some instances that some programs’ aliases are stored. So your buddy list shouldn’t be a problem unless you had some sort of virus that wiped it out (which I’ve never heard of)
