Well, it’s time for me to get a new laptop. I’m a graphic designer, and yes I have a PC. My friend told me to get the new Mac. Windows/Mac Based…plus all designers should have a Mac.
I don’t understand why designers need a mac, when Mac’s run the same programs as PC’s do. IE: Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, etc.So the question is…
Should I buy a Mac over a PC? If so why? If not…why?July 8, 2006 at 3:19 am #147652SpikeMemberGet a new MacBook. They can run Windows and Mac at the same time, that way you won’t have to worry about which one to use. Macs are better for desingers, they have some more advanced tools tailored towards different artists and developers. If not…well, there’s always Windows. 😉

It’s not a question of which is better, it’s which is better for you.
Have you ever actually used a Mac before?
If your answer is no, then this is a pretty drastic change. You need to try one out before committing long term to this baby. It’s not hard to use, but will you like it?Will you need to re-purchase software?
You will need to start fresh with all your software as you now need the Mac version. This can be expensive. Can you live without all your Windows software?
You may not realize how many things you use on your computer are only available for Windows. Make sure you can give them up!So if you’re cool with all that, then go for it. Mac’s are definately nice, and I’ve heard the tired old saying that all good designers only use Macs. My opinion is that design has nothing to do with Macs, your computer is a tool. Use what you know. As for Spikes suggestion, remember that booting Windows on the new Mac’s are possible, but not officially supported. (Plus you’ll likely need to buy both Mac OSX and Windows XP registration keys)
