It is warm today… and my mind wanders to what to have for dinner… the no sugar no starch food plan I am on forces me to plan ahead… Not to say you can’t eat well this way… We eat delicious food… so I am imagining…. a full bodied salad… with baby greens and cucumbers… zucchini rounds… fresh tomatoes from our garden… sweet red onions… plump tender salad shrimp…
hearts of palm… marinated mushrooms… and our own homemade dressing… a creamy rich garlic dressing with balsamic vinegar… and bits of freshly browned bacon floating on top… yumm…. that works… then let’s see… visions of asparagus and mushrooms sauteed in olive oil with garlic and mushrooms… and a bit of butter drizzling over it and freshly ground pepper… and of course… oven roasted then grilled to perfection meaty spare ribs… smothered in our own special bbq sauce… we make ourselves.. laced with a sweet spicy blend of flavors that ooze down your chin as you smile …. murmurs of mmmmmm… and eyes rolling back… oh yes… summer bbq… the smoky sweetness kicked up with spicey explosions in your mouth…. can this be a diet??? lol… one i can live on forever… yummmmy,….. whatcha think????July 18, 2002 at 7:31 pm #101496roadrageous_chickMemberThat sounds pretty good. Is that the Atkins diet that you’re doing? I tried that for awhile. Now I’m doing the Insulin Resistance diet. Your carbs are limited with it, but you can have a little bit of bread. A diet like that is not too hard to do. I’ve lost 5 lbs. so far and don’t really feel like I’m being denied of anything. 🙂
July 18, 2002 at 10:04 pm #101499delysohMemberActually it’s Somersizing… Suzanne Somers has a modified version of the atkins type low carb plan that incorporates the concept of food combining… that it’s the foods we eat in combination with others that make us fat… Much of my extended family has lost weight on this plan… a lot of weight.. and it’s one you could live on modified after reaching goal forever… The food honestly surprises most people.. I can’t tell you how many times my husband who doesn’t have a weight issue but eats this way with me and I have prepared meals where people ask… Is this really a diet???? Creativity makes many recipes convertable to what we call legal… I’ve lost almost 50 lbs in 5 months… it works….
July 18, 2002 at 11:22 pm #101495roadrageous_chickMemberCongratulations on the weight loss. That’s a major accomplishment!
July 25, 2002 at 5:54 pm #101493shearheavenMemberYes I have been on that…and it really works. I lost 80 pounds while somersizing…unfortunatly I fell off the wagon, but the good news is I haven’t gained much back.
Planning on going back on it, it’s really the best eating plan I have ever been on and felt great while doing so…I still have a ways to go to reach my goal, but I am confident I will get there…shearheaven
July 27, 2002 at 1:47 pm #101491rustedtightMemberI’m on the local shopping mall’s see-food diet.
I see food and I eat it. its probably a metabolism thing or a fact of life for my age in which case I will soon be investigating these diets simply to reduce the size of the butt that has attached itself (uninvited) to my bod.
Speaking of which…. this thing has developed a personality of its own, how I hate the ‘nice butt’ comment from passers-by, I know they see more than they admit to. Why do I get self conscious at a childs ” hey mommy, look at that”? paranoia?
In the order of weight gain its butt followed by boobs….. so should some guy whisper ‘nice boobs’ to his friend I KNOW I’m in deep “I gota diet” teritory.
OK so where do I get this diet?rustedtight.
July 27, 2002 at 2:17 pm #101490rustedtightMemberAn irreverent aside………….
I have determined that the Lord is not androgynous as I first thought but definitely male, How else do you reconcile the fact that the first thing you lose on a diet is your newly acquired and decidedly attrractive boobs? He has a sense of humour.rustedtight
July 27, 2002 at 5:23 pm #101494roadrageous_chickMemberAmen sister!
July 27, 2002 at 7:05 pm #101497ShaunM2MemberWell, I used to weigh 360 pounds, and believe it or not, I used the Richard Simmons diet. In 6 months I knocked off about 110 pounds, just enough so I could barely join the army. As long as you follow the diet and mute the TV so you can’t hear him talking, it’s not a bad diet plan. I have been at about 220 pounds now for the last 3 years and never looked back.
So it is written, so it shall come to pass.

August 2, 2002 at 8:10 pm #101498delysohMemberSuzanne Somers… Eat cheat and melt the fat away… explains the concepts… good book.. includes recipes.. easiest plan to follow that I’ve been on… it’s an amazing concept… dig in and go for it.!!!
August 4, 2002 at 10:20 pm #101500TrixieLuMemberI tried sommersizing with my parents and I was following just fine, but instead of losing weight I was just mantaining wait which isn’t a bad thing unless what you’re trying to do is lose weight….It didn’t work for me because red meat, which I love, keeps fat on me….it’s just my body type. Im real glad it works for others though, like my Parents and my Aunt (delysoh).
I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks on the body mkeover plan but talk about no flavor and it takes too much time and I’m going to be in college!!!
I’m going to have to exercise and stay away from the stuff I know that keep me chunky… -
