Today is the day we in the US celebrate the impact of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s activism in civil rights. For more info look here. But the day is more than a celebration of the man, it is a call to citizen action through volunteer service which is why I really like this day. Volunteerism is a big part of who I am. Everyone can make a difference if you just give a little of yourself to someone or something that speaks to you; whether it’s running in a race or tutoring or leading the scouts or entertaining at a blood drive or serving in a soup kitchen or helping build a house or even setting up a website for an organization who serves populations in need. . . the possibilities are endless. Here are some that are registered with the official Day of Service group; but many other opportunities exist all over if you’re willing to make that difference. Try it for just an afternoon or just one project you might be surprised at how good it feels to help others just because.
And by the way – the staff here at BBB are all volunteers, giving of their time and talents to help anyone that they can with whatever needs arise and are posted here. So, THANK YOU Staff, for your dedication to this IMing community.

January 21, 2008 at 6:47 pm #166246Jeff HesterKeymasterI actually have to work today. So much for this “national” holiday.
January 21, 2008 at 7:15 pm #166248TigerbladeParticipantI’m with you on that one, Jeff. I get no respite from work today either.
January 22, 2008 at 12:05 am #166249NessaParticipantHey, so I wasn’t alone on the having to work today! Although I didn’t mind.
And thanks to all my fellow staff members and helpful posters. 🙂
