which movie up to date do you find is better?
I like the action in the Matrix trilogy, but overall I think Lord Of The Rings is better.
November 11, 2003 at 8:51 pm #88454TigerbladeParticipantsadly i have to agree with falcon on this one… even though i love the first Matrix, the successive movies haven’t lived up to the greatness of the original or the media hype the sequels got.
i’m still waiting for that third LOTR movie to come out, looks like it’ll be just as great as the last two… i’m planning on getting the three on DVD as soon as they all come out.*speaking of DVDs, anybody know when Revolutions is gonna come out on DVD? obviously it just got to theaters so probably not for a few months at least, but Reloaded is already out and that premiered in May… so figure 6 months maybe?? anybody?

But now that they are in a trilogy, lotr wins hands down. Its almost like my whole view of the “ground breaking” matrix changed when I saw the 2nd and 3rd one, it doesnt seem that appealing anymore.
Watching Revolutions was the equivalent of watching an entire spider man movie without peter parker ever becoming spider man, you spent the whole time in Zion, outside of the Matrix.

The first Matrix was genius, but the sequels ruined my perspective. Now it is the butt of jokes, and almost every other show pokes fun at the special effects. The LOTR sequels are good, not neccesarily great, and better than the Matrix as a group. I have always been against sequels, why ruin the integrity of the original

Would you have expected anything else from me!?
November 11, 2003 at 11:56 pm #88450Jeff HesterKeymasterI haven’t seen the third installment of either trilogy yet, but I can already tell that Lord of the Rings is going to win.
The first Matrix movie blew my mind. I saw the opening show, and was then emailing friends telling them that they HAD to go see it.
I wanted to enjoy Reloaded, and tried really hard to convince myself that it was good. I’ve gotten to where it’s ok, but it definitely didn’t have the same impact as the first Matrix.
Lord of the Rings is just a great story, well told. The effects don’t seem mind-blowing, because the storyline takes precedence. The effects seem natural. LOTR will go down as a timeless classic, while Matrix will be a breakthrough moment (with the 2nd and 3rd installments simply footnotes).
November 16, 2003 at 11:25 am #88456QwertyMemberAs moveis: The Matrix 😎
As trilogies: LoTR… Not by much though.I still think the LoTRs books were so much better that the movies though.
March 22, 2004 at 2:30 am #88460colinMemberSeeing as how I don’t even understand the Matrix movies very well, I’m going to have to go with the Lord of The Rings movies.
April 1, 2004 at 10:55 am #88458plastidcellsMemberhmm… trilogy compared to trilogy… I think lord of the rings wins although i’m sorta sad that it does… I liked Matrix (the first one) better than any single LotR movie, but the Matrix reloaded grandly disappointed me (just because it was so contrived and action-filled that it lacked any true qualities for being a good movie)… so…
although I sorta root for matrix, lotr has the better plot, trilogly, whatever…. (although the last lotr movie… the ending… it was so drawn out… it could’ve ended a half-a-dozen times… but I heard that they jsut wanted to end it like they had in the book but I haven’t read the books so I can’t really say..)April 6, 2004 at 10:26 pm #88457dmeMemberLord of the Rings would be the winner as a trilogy, with no doubt at all. I would say that Matrix 1 may have been the best of all the six. facing a stiff Challenge from LotR2. I agree with the general feeling here:
As a movie: Matrix
As a trilogy: LotR
And the question here deals with the trilogy 🙂April 8, 2004 at 3:21 pm #88462arigatoParticipanti don’t understand “matrix” what did the directors want to show ? kungfu? it’s too bad

April 21, 2004 at 3:30 am #88465BilbosLadyMemberI Think LOTR is the best movie I’v ever seen I hope Peter Jackson comes out with The Hobbit Movie……..
April 21, 2004 at 11:01 am #88463912Participantoh I have to disagree seeing tho I am from Aus we call it Gay Lord of the Rings, I wouldent now A LOT But I have to disagree with most of you LOTR was a crappy movie I saw it with my gf and she was like that sucked and im like you picked it… then we saw matrix and it was Awsome… then we saw the rest of it.. and it was good too… I sadly have to say LOTR is a peice of crap seeing though I am a movie maker myself..i noe what good movies you may all love those hairy legged freakes so called “Hobbits but.. it just reminds me of warcraft.. now if that was a movie… it would kill everything in its way… So Matrix Rocks and Lotr forever in Aus Will Suck! I dont care if you disagree with me .. we Australians Hate it.. Oh Master Frodo my precious..sigh what a peice of crap..
LoL most of you will now disagree with me..hahaha
April 21, 2004 at 2:44 pm #88461Penguin HunterMemberJust because you are a movie make doesn’t mean you know what makes a good movieI be the people who made the second two Matrix Movies thought they knew what made a good movie…how wrong could they be. They had one success with the First Matrix them lost the respect of the entire world by making the second two…morons
