I have a problem with medal of honor pacific assault. I just got it earlier. It installed perfectly but when I tried to start the game (clicking the shortcut) a popup appeared and said Medal Of Honor Pacific Assault(tm) requires a video card that supports DirectX 8.1
The video card in the system does not fully support DirectX 8.1I currently have an Nvidia GeForce4 MX with DirectX 9.0c running on Windows XP Home SP2.
I will add a screenshot of the popup soon.
Please help 😀
I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same card. Attempted updating drivers, just as a long shot, but as expected, it didn’t work.
The only solution I could find: Get a new card which fully supports DirectX 8.1.
Well right now I don’t want a new video card :D. Mines fine for some games out there but I really wanted to try this game, oh well I guess I will have to leave it in the dust for awhile 😀 or maybe they will come up with a patch or something that will fix everything about the video card issues.
I am fairly sure that it isn’t a software problem, therefore patching it in some way or another wouldn’t work.
I suppose at some point you’ll have to get a new graphics card sooner or later, as games advance, and require higher specifications.
Acutually If Im correct My dad complained about the same thing, and when I red the box it said “blah blah blah, 64Mb blah blah blah BUT DOES NOT ACCEPT Nvidia GeForce4 MX GRAPHICS CARD..
But we did also try an ATI 9200 and its supper laggy, not even fun to play. His specs are 2.5 G p4, 512M mem, win xp and ATI Radeo 9200 before I ganked it back out and put the original Nvidia GeForce4 MX back in.
Its a Game issue, The game was very poorly built.

The first thing to check is to ensure that the computer has a supported 64 MB video card with full DirectX 8.1 Support. The game is extremely demanding and currently only the following cards are supported:
ATI Radeon 8500, 9000 Pro, 9200, 9500, 9600, 9700, 9800
ATI Radeon x300, x600, x800
Nvidia GeForce 3, GeForce3 Ti 200
Nvidia GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X, GeForce Ti 4600, GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE
Nvidia GeForceFX 5200, 5300, 5500, 5600, 5700, 5750, 5800, 5900, and 5950
Nvidia GeForce 6800Please note that the GeForce4 MX series of video cards are not supported.
If the computer does not have one of these types of video cards it will be unable to run properly.
To find out what type of video card you have:
- Go to Start and select Run and type dxdiag and press Ok.
- Along the top of the tool click on the tab that says Display.
- On the left side near the top it will state the name.
- Also note the Aprox. Total Memory a couple lines below the name.
After ensuring that the game minimum requirements are met, make sure that the latest drivers are installed for the video card. Check the card manufacturer’s web site for any updates and follow any directions that they may provide.
