It gives the staff great pleasure in announcing that VvWolverinevV is April’s Member of the Month. The votes were counted and checked and you the members wanted him to be your member of the month for April:
Congratulations VvWolverinevV!!
Here is what he had to say about he time as a member of our forum:
How did you find out about BigBlueBall? What made you stay?
I began posting in forums in general on the middle:man forums back in the day when m:m was the only free option for logging IMs. Soon after, I found that searching for answers to IM and other OS and hardware problems was often the quickest way to find a solution – often on user forums. The standard search engines began to bring up BBB more and more for the problems I was encountering (this was around 2004-2005)
I registered for the site, as I often do, so that I could view profiles and possibly contact someone via IM to ask them about an IM problem I was having. After m:m went by the wayside and the forums did the same, I began to post on a few other sites (maclife.com, techspot.com, and BBB). Before long, BBB gained a sacred spot on my bookmarks toolbar :p
Why did you choose VvWolverinevV as your username?
VvWolverinevV was my gaming handle a long time ago when I played Starcraft in middle school and HS. Yes, the wolverine is after the X-men character. No one can deny he is the coolest one. The ‘V’s were because Wolverine was already taken. This username has become my standard for tech forums and gaming.
How many years have you been using computers? What do you with your computer?
I have been using computers since I was about five years old. I am very comfortable with many different operating systems and hardware configurations. I even do a little coding. I mainly use my home PC for IM, gaming, music and video playback, and websurfing. I also use computers at work for controlling and recording data from experiments.
How long have you been instant messaging?
I first used IM in AOL 1.0, and I remember telling my father that the internet was useless and I didn’t know what all the hype was about. That changed the first time a girl typed LOL to me and then explained that it meant she was laughing out loud… In my mind, I could see her pearly whites and her flowing silky hair as she laughed at my online jokes… but I digress…
What is your favorite instant messenger?
AIM. Simply because most of my IM contacts use it.
What is your favorite BigBlueBall forum?
Easily BBB Lounge. I love controversy and logical debate, and forums are a great place for these things. There is a record of all arguments available for rereading, there is no time limit for responses, the debate is potentially open to the whole world via the interweb, and if you’re offended by anything that’s said, escape is a simple mouse click away.
What do you do when you’re not online?
I am working on a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics. I also lift weights, ski, and play tennis.
What are your favorite movie, book and song?
Movie: Matrix
Book: Plato’s The Republic
Song: Beautiful Disaster by 311Anything else you would like to add?
I’ve probably said more than anyone wants to read already :p
Who is the best staff member?
All of the staff are very respectful and respectable. I’d have to say Jeff gets an extra pat on the back for starting it all ๐
