Dr. Kimble took a vacation for questioning the October Member of the Month.. so I decided to take the role. I’d like to welcome RabidKitten to the inductees of MOTM club! Sam has been a member of BBB since August 20, 2003 and has been quite an inspiration both in knowledge and personality. Even though we are congratulating you Sam, I’d also like to thank you for being such an awesome member and person! *thumbs up* 😉
Q: How did you find out about BigBlueBall? What made you stay?
A: To be completely honest, I don’t know. Of course I participated in the thread (and every useless thread) that asked that very question and I believe my answer was “I have no idea, I was probably random googling things like ‘big blue ball’ and came across it” and it’s true. In all seriousness, judging from my first recorded post back in the day (yo) I was probably looking for information on some MSN chat bots. But what made me stay was the people. Yes…as obnoxious and irritating and argumentative as I am…I require company and the people at BBB seemed…I don’t know tolerable? Those little personal touches like Jeff wishing me a happy birthday and the newsletters interested me, and I’ve made some great allies too.Q: Why did you choose “RabidKitten” as your username?
A: Because I’m friendly to an extreme, can’t you tell? *pose* But no, actually a multitude of people call me “kitten”, mostly because I can purr like one and I’ve a few feline qualities…like being a hog for attention and curling up in peoples laps at inappropriate times. I added the Rabid part because I didn’t want to give a cutsie little image, because, as we all know, that’s not me. I look kind of harmless, but, once more, as most have noticed, I have a bit of an attitude. I knew a guy called “RabidLeprochaun” so I kind of stole it from him. Thanks Jack!Q: How many years have you been using computers?
A: In general? Golly, well my elementary school teacher always had us do our typing lessons (thanks Mavis) and play Oregon Trail, but I never really got seriously into it until my father bought our first computer back in 1996, I think? It was a new toy and being the eager little beaver I was, I went out to seek what I could from it in order to conquer the world…and do my homework.Q: How long have you been instant messaging?
A: I have such a bad memory for dates…but see this is a funny story, because before there was mainstream email and everyone had it, back when my dad got our first computer, a friend down the street and I would fax each other back and forth as a kind of makeshift IM/email system. I didn’t start using actual instant messaging until my mother got a clue, got a computer and was dense enough to use *shudder* AOL…*echo echo echo* So, 7 yearsish?Q: What is your favorite instant messenger and why?
A: *shoot her AIM over and over and over again* Hm? Sorry I couldn’t hear you over the gunfire. Oh, right. Actually, I prefer trillian… But if I had to pick a certain medium…I’d like to say MSN, but they jerk you around so much it’s insane, and I’d also like to say AIM but…as you can tell I loath it, and yahoo’s not even an option so I’m going to cheat and say I hate them all separately but trillian makes them tolerable. Centralized list, clean looking, not overly complex, logs things so I can shove peoples words down their throats from 3 weeks ago…yep, overall I have to say *thumbs up*.Q: What is your favorite BigBlueBall forum section and why?
A: Well, the one that I spend the most time in would be the Off Topic, Random Ramblings or What Makes You Laugh. I’d like to say that I’m more useful than that, but I love those little personal anecdotes and stories and opinions that make those little faceless geeks actual people. It’s great to get to know them as more than IM experts, and through those sections you get to have some really good friends.Q: What do you do when you’re not online?
A: When I’m deprived of my sweet Perdition (yes I named it, what of it?), which I often am when my brother steals it away, I actually don’t do a whole lot. I write a lot. Notebooks and notebooks filled with plotlines, character outlines, stories and the like, even a collaboration piece here and there. I’m also an attempted painter, I love it, like to pretend I’m good at it, then (like all good artists) call it trash and drown myself in chocolate. Other than that, I play a lot of videogames. XBox can kiss my butt but you have to give it up for Halo and Fable. Final Fantasy (pre X2) is great and other hacking bashing goodness like Gauntlet. When I’m driven outside I love hiking and swimming and rock climbing…I’m a stickler for wandering around the local Barnes and Noble and whistling at random people on Broadway during the summer. Hey, it’s a living.Q: Anything else you would like to add?
My uses are completely asthetic in nature *strikes a pose* I make a heck of a centerpiece. And I strike up great arguments To quoteth SNL…”YES! I’m awesome, I’m Ashton Kutcher, I love Justin Timberlake!”
Heh, I’ve stated it a few times before that I’m probably one of, if not the singularly most useless person on BBB. I just leech off of the rest of your guys’ radiance, ask a few questions for my family, keep the censures on their toes and keep the Off Topic center hopping *laughs* I appreciate the vote of confidence, and it actually is quite touching. In the words of Steven Tyler, “Thank you Alicia Silverstone!”November 9, 2004 at 4:03 am #104296QuiksilverMember*thumbs up* you deserved this one RK! Congrats you really deserved it. you bring life to BBB! expecially with those stories about your brother 😉 and all the other stuff you come up with of course!congrats again!

November 9, 2004 at 5:47 pm #104282ladie_vennomMemberCongrats! well deserved, you bring a good sense of humor to these forums. Shes one person, I dont think we should give the MoTM stabbing stick too, seriously who knows what she’ll do with it. 😉 :p
November 9, 2004 at 5:59 pm #104284shifterMemberCongrats RK! Remember, now that you’re an official MotM you are legally bound to continually entertain us (you did read the fine print right?). Now don’t just stand there – dance monkey dance! Muhahahaha!
And as for you stabbing stick lovers, I have some sad news. The stick has been officially retired. It turns out that a few of the previous MotM’s (*cough*n8r*cough*) have been verbally and physically abusing the stick. The stick is now in intensive care and undergoing intensive psychological counselling. Please include the stick in your prayers.
Now if you feel something must be passed along, you may use the BigBlueBaton. It’s not as “cool” or “threatening”, but you can do some pretty cool tricks with it. If you’re into that sort of thing that is. Otherwise, a slap on the back (not the butt – we don’t need anymore lawsuits) and a pronouncement of achievement will have to do. 😉
November 9, 2004 at 7:32 pm #104281OreoMemberGreat job “Her Kitteness” keep up the awesome work! You really earned it… 🙂
