You’ve seen the forums without menus, and now you’ve seen them with the menus on. Which do you prefer?
April 6, 2003 at 3:07 am #97187Zlink123MemberThe menus are awsome!!! But Configurable would be nice…if it isn’t to much of a hassle for you.
April 6, 2003 at 3:53 am #97185detn8rParticipanti dont like it. its good on the home page, but it over powers the forums. i dont think there is a need for it, but config. would be OK i guess. it also makes the forums load very slow, and thats something that i really dont need!;)
April 6, 2003 at 4:07 am #97188Zlink123MemberThey Give such a fresh, clean, original look to the site though. I think the menus make BigBlueBall.com into the best looking site I’ve ever[/b] seen in my life….really, Awsome job Jeff!
April 6, 2003 at 5:14 pm #97192FaizanMemberI think it should stay here, looks cool, and the forum blends in with the site only because of this menu, it doesn’t look like a part of site without it. I think it should stay here! Looks really cool!
Update:I just noticed that the page loads a bit slow with this menu, but it might be my connection (56K).
April 6, 2003 at 6:15 pm #97189PhilMemberit loads slow for me and im on ADSL, which is why i think that the menu should go or it should be configurable!
April 6, 2003 at 9:46 pm #97199Thunderacer9989MemberHow hard would it be to make them configurable? jw
The Umpa signing off:)
April 7, 2003 at 8:31 pm #97195Spider_manMemberI would definately go for configurable or even off all together, it just takes too long for us 56Kers to load the page.
April 9, 2003 at 3:01 am #97182rustedtightMemberIt seems to be a terrible waste of screen real estate.
The menus look great when displayed horizontally and the auto adjust to users screen resolution works when its shown horizontally. Why should I scroll sideways to view the forums?
It would be better, if this vertical format is to be retained, to place it on the right side of the screen so that if a user needs to see the menus then one could scroll sideways to view them. For my 2 cents worth….. you just screwed up my page display, now I need to scroll every new page.:( please take it away.

Yes Jeff PLEASE
April 10, 2003 at 2:20 am #97186Zlink123MemberRustedTight….Since you only need to scroll when you have a low screen resolution, wouldn’t it make sense to crank up the resolution a bit. I have mine at 1024 X 768 and I don’t need to scroll at all.
Don’t take it away Jeff! :p
April 10, 2003 at 2:49 am #97183AnnaParticipantQuote:quote:crank up the resolution a bitNot everybody’s moniter and/or graphics card can handle higher resoulitions. For the most part – the majority of computer users these days use 800×600, many many more than 1024×768. It would seem logical to optimize the site for the majority of viewers – not minority.
I vote user configurable.
April 11, 2003 at 1:51 am #97181rustedtightMemberMy resolution may not be the problem, tho sure it is set at 800X600.
Its possible this new layout is not optimised for all browsers.Should I ask here why is this duplicated in a space hogging side frame when it is already in horizontal format at the bottom of the page?
April 11, 2003 at 2:06 am #97184detn8rParticipantI had to set mine below 600 800. I dont have a problem with scrolling anymore, but slow loading is still a facor.
April 11, 2003 at 6:10 am #97179Jeff HesterKeymasterOk, so when I combine the OFF votes and the CONFIGURABLE votes, clearly the side menu gets a thumbs down. I’ll turn them off until I can cook up a better solution. 😉
