Yesterday I noticed that several urls are automatically censored on the Mess.be forums, when you type “Messunit.com” or “Msg****.com” the text is replaced with “Mess.be”. I created a thread about and when I went back today my account had been suspended until 2014. Good work guys.
March 23, 2006 at 12:11 pm #140575mc_leishMemberwow, what a ban, thats incredable, i honestly not sure what to say here :O
March 23, 2006 at 6:30 pm #140571MartinBradleyMemberElisa reported this thread to me, I’m not sure what to do with it. Personally, it seems a bit pointless, so I moved it here, I don’t really think we need it.
March 23, 2006 at 6:38 pm #140568OreoMemberThe reason I reported it is…it does seem quite pointless…and I think it will bring with it some bad blood between us and mess.be…not that I’m frightened…it’s just that we do not know if the person actually did what they said…or if it was something else completely. Anyway…thought I’d report it and let you MSN people sort it out 🙂
March 23, 2006 at 6:59 pm #140566Jeff HesterKeymasterI’d prefer to stay neutral on this issue. What dwergs does on mess.be and how he manages their forums is of no importance to BigBlueBall.
I saw the post and originally didn’t care, but after thinking about it I tend to agree that it really isn’t necessary or helpful. In this case, the original poster went out of his way to register, just to post that ONE message disparaging mess.be — not really the kind of member we need or want.
March 23, 2006 at 9:00 pm #140572imported_EvilSephMemberI agree with that guy, but that’s because of experience in the matter. Mess.be is going down the drain – but I’ll keep that to myself. Adding to this, you’ll notice that he is staff at or owns messunit – so naturally he’ll want to defame Mess.be.
I saw this thread, but was not sure how BigBlueBall deals with this stuff. Although I agree it is smart to stay out of a potential war.
March 23, 2006 at 9:07 pm #140567Jeff HesterKeymasterI’ll contact James (the original poster) privately and explain why his post was removed.
March 23, 2006 at 11:34 pm #140573imported_EvilSephMemberIt turns out he was banned for ban evasion, not the complaining about censorship, just fyi.
March 23, 2006 at 11:41 pm #140569OreoMemberInteresting…..
March 25, 2006 at 3:44 am #140574duphusParticipantHe is the ban evasion king.
His name is Tim McIvor and usual nick is ‘kaos’. A couple of years ago he was banned from fanatic for attacking anyone and everyone for stupid reasons… he’s also a psychological mess so that doesn’t help. Every now and then he comes back in some schizophrenic form (in this case, “James”) and just causes trouble. What he doesn’t realize is that each ban is justified and the banner(s) know who he really is, he doesn’t seem to understand this and thinks fanatic/mess.be ban him like anyone else is banned… ‘ubercensorship’.
