Even when i have checked the appropriate boxes to show me away after a certain amount of minutes, my MSN IM always shows me online.
Does anyone have any idea how this can be happening?
Is something running that is making IM think im at the computer?
Thanks,
Max
Do you have anu addon like Messenger Plus, Mess Patch, Messenger Discovery?
nope, no addons.
I’ve got this problem as well. Most infuriating!
I’m using MSN 7.5 (but I’ve had the same problem with the new Live Messenger).
It used to be okay but no longer. Skype show the auto-away staus just fine. Even with Skpe not running, MSN still doesn’t ‘auto-away.
I have got Messenger Plus. Is this likely to cause the problem and why? How do I get rid of it completely?
I’ve tried repairing MSN, reinstalling MSN, upgrading to Live Messenger, but no joy.
As an experiment I did create another ‘test’ user account in XP and used MSN 7.5 there. It worked fine. No auto-away problems at all.
There must be a setting that needs to be changed but what it is I just don’t know!
Any ideas?
Regards
John
In Plus! there is an option to show you away after period of inactivity. Take a look at Preferences – General Options – Miscellaneous – and tick the box ‘Automaticlly change status….’
Don’t know why the messenger auto-away sometimes just stops working, but it has nothing to do with Plus! ,happens to my friend too, and she does not have Plus! installed.
That did it! It’s fixed!
Seems Plus! takes charge of the auto-away feature sometimes.
I ticked the box, set my ‘away time’, and Bob’s your uncle!
Take a house brick you clever people.
Many thanks
