Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me.
For some time now I can’t voice chat since my voice is breaking up pretty badly in voice chat.
If I do the voice wizard I break up in the voice wizard as well, which didn’t happen before. This is what I tried so far: I disabled a Download Accelerator program I used. Disabled a proxy server I used for this program. Installed an older version of Messenger to see if it will solve the problem. It didn’t.
The problem actually started after I installed Window’s Service Pack 2 ( I think that’s where it started)
I also have a lot of programs running in the background when I’m on the internet and I’m not sure which of those processes should be disabled since I don’t recognize the filenames. That might be the problem as well, right?I’m on dial-up. I never had this problem before. It has only recently become a problem.
Can someone please help me out?
Thanks

You should also have the least programs running in the background and do not download anything while on voice chat since that will affect your voice connection. Do a good cleanup of your computer, cookies, temp files, a good defragment of your hard drive. A clean, well mantained computer runs faster and more stable. Update your audio drivers and get a newer version of Yahoo Messenger but don’t get the 8.0 BETA because it has many bugs and is more trouble than it’s worth. Hope this helps you.

According to yahoo, in order to use their voice, you need to have a 56 k dial up connection. Then, if you are running other programs as well, it takes away from your 56 k connection, and the more you’re running, the more you will break up.
Also, These newer yahoo messengers have so many options and use many resources. You need to do a really good cleaning, get your processes down to the absolute minimum, and open the task manager to watch which processes are running the most. If you’re CPU speed goes from like 10% to 80% that is when you break up. The object is to get your CPU to be consistent. Fluxuating is ok… just not from 10 to 80.
