Hello everyone, just found this forum while trying to find a solution to a very strange problem I got since last month:
You’ll see, when someone adds me to his contact list, I don’t receive the message that usually appears, telling me if I want to add that person to my own contact list. Also, they are unable to view my status or chat with me.
My first thought was to check the Privacy settings, and indeed, the box labeled “Notify me when someone adds me” is checked. Any other ideas?
Almost forgot… I’m using Windows Live Messenger 2009 in Windows 7.
Since your privacy is now primarily managed through your Windows Live profile online, you will want to check and see if your settings there allow everyone that you want to see your status and updates, and to send you notifications etc.
What version of WLM is your contact using? I’m wondering if perhaps they are on the 2011 version and there is a glitch in communication between the new and the old versions….just a thought.
You can also use messenger online. Perhaps if you login that way you will receive the notification and will be able to add the person. It’s worth a try.
