I’m trying to use my microphone for webcamming…but its very quiet, and static-cy. When I have playback on in my sound controls for my microphone, it sounds fine, not quiet or anything. It’s only when I’m using it to record or using it over videoconferencing is when the problem occurs.
Anyone know what’s wrong?
It might just be that it’s over videoconferencing, but if it’s quiet, make sure it’s turned up in your Sound Settings. Open the Volume Control, then go to File > Properties > Click Recording > Make sure “Microphone” is checked underneath > OK > Make sure Mis is selected and at an adequate volume.
This is the recording level, not the level you hear out of your speakers, so you won’t notice a difference immediately. If you want to increase the mic’s volume that you hear out of you speakers, go back into Properties, switch back to “Playback”, and make sure the Mic setting is turned up and unmuted.
Can I suggest you ensure your “mic boost” is on (I set mine on and leave it on, permanently).
This should then mean it packs a lot more punch, you DON’T have to get real close to it, and yell!
Having to speak within an inch of the mic every breath is picked up, AND a head sway of an inch makes sound fluctuate terribly.
But a foot away, neither of these problems are issues at all.
