MemberFor some Microsoft users iTunes just won’t load up. Well I found a way to fix that!:)
Okay first you must create a new account (ON WINDOWS XP).
Start->Control Panel->User Accounts->Create a New Account.
*You must create a password a long with the account.
I used ‘test’,’test’. Very simple. Username is test and password is test.Now that we have that done we will get to actually opening iTunes. Right click your iTunes icon (the .exe to that opens the program) and select ‘Run as…’
When that is clicked a box will appear. You should have to Circle option boxes in the ‘Run as…’ window. Select the second one that says ‘The Following User:’ In that box enter the user account you’ve created before. Like mine I used test, test. Then press Ok.Now wait a moment and iTunes should load up. It will guide you through and yada yada. Now iTunes should work! 🙂
Glad to have helped!

ParticipantThat’s not only an illogical and nonsensical “fix” to any problem, but that’s also really halfassed. You’re a lot better off figuring out why your regular user account won’t allow the executable to run properly.

KeymasterI’ve never had a problem getting iTunes working using my regular user account, on any of four Windows XP computers. Is this a common problem?

ParticipantI’ve never had it happen, sounds just like a problem you are having tru3.

MemberJust because you guys aren’t having the problem it doesn’t mean i’m the only one. My uncle is having the problem and also a lot of my friends.
And to David, isn’t it better thats it working? I’d rather have it work then not work. I’m still trying to get it to work on my own user account but for now atleast I got it to work. Come on you don’t have to leave a message putting me down and saying I should get it to work on my account.

I had this problem several days ago and found the same solution Tru3 provided in Google. It’s because your user permissions are screwed up. The only way to fix it that I have found? Reinstall Windows from scratch (a repair install doesn’t work, but reinstalling over the partition might. I just formatted).
Two things:
1. You don’t have to make a seperate account. Simply select ‘The Following User:’ and enter your current information
2. You have to do this everytime you start up Itunes. Not something that is very convenient.
