February 27, 2004 at 9:06 pm #48985FreddieMemberDo people that use im’s have dial-up connections? I can’t imagine leaving a messenger on using dial-up because of the cost. I posted the question here because this is an im board and I assumed everyone had broadband. Just curious. David points out a good use for it. I don’t know how much time I spent at Windows update the last time I reinstalled…
February 27, 2004 at 9:24 pm #48994shifterMemberNo, not everyone is fortunate enough to have broadband, you would be surprised at the number of users still using Dail-up. Dail-up users would not leave there IM clients on 24/7, most just use IM for chatting with friends, then sign out and disconnect when finished. You won’t find to many Dial-Up users idling.
February 27, 2004 at 10:18 pm #48995FimusMemberHaha, no idling? Pas possible! (I’m learning French).
I always idle…. but then again I have a cable connection. 🙂February 27, 2004 at 11:57 pm #49000DangerBoyMemberVous êtes si très brillant, mais quel est le point de votre poste?
Sweet! I can finally have a CD to give to my lazy relatives who don’t download the updates!

Probablement dire que ce dialup est impossible d’utiliser?
Do you know if the CD would be any use to pirated version of Windows that don’t allow system update downloads anymore?
February 28, 2004 at 12:36 am #48989DavidParticipant….Don’t we have a rule or something against discussing illegal activities…? 😉

Hey! I’m learning French in school. Err Fimus’s rough translation. You all are very brilliant, but what is the point of your posts?

Freddie, it does not cost much, I don’t have “Pay as you go”, I am on “Unlimited Dial-up”. 😉February 28, 2004 at 5:24 am #48997lazyturboMemberAre they sending this Security Update for free because the Windows blueprint was leaked out a few weeks ago?
And if I give Microsoft my home address, are they going to send me junk mail?…LOL

February 28, 2004 at 3:26 pm #48981magistykMemberI doubt sending this out has anything to do with the sourcecode leak.
February 29, 2004 at 2:24 am #48988DavidParticipantI think it has more to do with last summer and SoBig, MSBlaster etc. Windows XP SP2 also appears to have a decent firewall, and by default the OS may be more secure.
