well i’m new in this field and i would like to know how to work on outlook express or microsoft outlook
what is the difference between them ( i’m a newbie)
what is the purpose to use them ?
i have Windows XP and office XP
thank you for advanceJune 24, 2003 at 12:13 pm #94470freddyMemberI have a feeling your topic will be removed to another forum, but I shall reply here.
Outlook Express is a limited (in terms of features), free version of Microsoft Outlook that comes with Internet Explorer tools.
Outlook comes as a part of Microsoft Office or as a separate package, and they both cost. But you must however, have outlook express installed to use outlook.
Their main use is for e-mail communication and newsgroups.
Outlook also has features such as calenders/scheduling and is aimed more towards the busy business person, with contact managers, and more powerful search/organisational features for its data. Outlook also integrates with the other Microsoft Office tools, and Microsoft Exchange server.
You most probably only need Express.

There is a great tutorial here: http://www.wackyb.co.nz/outlook.html

thank you for advanceJune 25, 2003 at 11:22 am #94468freddyMemberHere is how to backup,
Go to files>>import/expore select the option “export to a file” then press “next” select “personal folder file (.pst)” then select next, choose the inbox, save it to a location on your hard drive, then burn to a CD as you would usually do.
To restore it, you would to dht esame, but select the option “import from another program or file”. You would also enter the location from the CD.
You can’t send mail unless you are connected to the net. Check tools>>accounts, select the account you use, select properties. Click connection, then at the bottom it has a list of ISPs you have installed, select the one you wish for it to connect on. It is probably currently blank, or has the wrong one.
Hope this helped!

you can use yahoo with outlook XP without payingJune 26, 2003 at 12:59 am #94459IndyToneMemberI must be doing something wrong then. I followed all these instructions: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-28.html
Each time I try to get messages off the server, it askes for my username and password repeatedly and never lets me in.
Ugh.
June 26, 2003 at 3:25 pm #94458IndyToneMemberSo, I tried it with Outlook XP (I have Office XP and WinXP Pro)… Got this email in my Yahoo account (web based):
