Apparently the middle_man website has been suspended. I haven’t been online for about 4 days and wanted to know how long it’s been down. I would also like to know if there has been an update to the middle-man software. Other than that, I just wanted to bring attention to everyone that the site is down.
June 3, 2004 at 6:52 am #78585Someguy03MemberThe owners get their friends selling hosting to host them for free, they get their friend mad, and the site goes down. This happened to AIMlabs 3 or 4 times.
But also, it mightve exceeded its bandwith limit, the hosting could be down right now, theres alot of reasons it could be “suspended”
June 3, 2004 at 7:22 am #78587AtlasParticipantThat’s what I thought. I really wish they would kick it in the ass and get another release out. I mean with Otsego out and DeadAIM 4.5 working almost flawlessly with the new AIM, Middle man seems to be a couple of steps behind.
June 3, 2004 at 7:22 am #78590kai wrenMemberit just went down a few hours ago. I check it pretty often and browse the forums, so I know that it was working today when I got home (the last time I checked it and it was working was about 3:00 PM this after noon, pacific time)

It was a hobby project between Harry and John that they decided to share with others. They code in their freetime between school, work, social lives, etc.
Middle_man, as is, makes a lot of people very happy. It does all I could possibly need right now – any new features are just bonus if I use them at all. I would rather have a great community with easily accessible creators than constant buggy builds.
When Beta 3 sees light, it will be sweet. It will just take time, being as the entire program is being coded from scratch. As of around 12:30am, John was still trying to get in touch with someone to find out the problem. I’ve not heard anything new.
If you would like to keep up to date, feel free to join #middle_man on EFnet.
June 3, 2004 at 11:21 pm #78586AtlasParticipantI wasen’t aware that Middle_man was a free time project. If I would have known that, I wouldn’t have been so rude about the fact of another release. Please accept my apologie, I would just like to see middle_man come out with another release. If it weren’t for the DeadAIM exploit going around I would be using it, but that’s not the case.
June 7, 2004 at 7:09 pm #78598camsterMemberi use the middleman forums all the time, and the only reason I signed up here was cuz middleman was down. I hope it comes back soon. if NEONE has any information, please tell me. that was pretty much the only site I went to nemore. I added this reply because I wanted to put it on the top of the list again. (sry). its been days now, and there was no warning. middleman isnt gone forever, is it?
June 7, 2004 at 7:35 pm #78584ladie_vennomMemberThis was said by zerooffline on the aimutation site:
Quote:quote:middle_man is not gone. middle_man has payed their bills. middle_man has not exceeded their bandwidth usage. the suspesion was due to an increase in popularity in the site, causing an increase in our server load. apparently we’re being put on a server which handles our type of website.sorry to disappoint everyone, we’re here to stay 🙂
June 7, 2004 at 8:51 pm #78593mm_jennaMemberLadie_vennom’s post was absolutely correct.
The suspension was due to the increase of popularity. Since Friday the guys have been trying to upgrade to semi-dedicated hosting, but have not yet received a response.
Had you been in #middle_man on EFnet, you would have heard about this directly. 🙂
Want to stay on top of the latest developments? Get in on the fun at #middle_man. If you don’t know how to use IRC, I’m sure someone would be happy to explain it to you.
June 8, 2004 at 6:29 pm #78599dcdomainMemberDoes anyone know of a mirror? It seems as though the site has been down for a while. I recently decided to stop using Deadaim and as of now would like to test out both Aimutation and Middle_Man. Thanks!
June 8, 2004 at 9:34 pm #78592mm_jennaMemberThe site has been fixed, just give your DNS some time to propogate.
🙂
As always, #middle_man on EFnet!
June 8, 2004 at 10:56 pm #78597camsterMember#1: it still says its suspended
#2: wats “just give your DNS some time to propogate.” that mean?
#3: middleman rocksJune 8, 2004 at 11:18 pm #78588zeroofflineMemberJenna’s message was pertaining to a mistake made by Surpass Hosting’s support team. One of the members believed our suspension was a mistake and unsuspended us, and then a couple hours later another member resuspended us because it was in fact, not a mistake. They were supposed to upgrade our account and they still have not gotten back to John. This is the reason we have found new hosting.
Quote:quote:#2: wats “just give your DNS some time to propogate.” that mean? This means that since we have new hosting, the rest of the world has to realize that we are no longer with Surpass Hosting. Once the DNS propogates you’ll be able to see our site again. This should take place in less then 48 hours. Please be patient, we apologize for this horrible event.
June 9, 2004 at 3:27 am #78589kai wrenMemberYAY!!! middle man is working again 🙂
June 10, 2004 at 5:17 pm #78596_Max_MemberThis is sweet!
