MemberMy fastest scores of all time are 2-beg (got this yesterday), 18-int, and 58!-exp. I still don’t know I was moving fast enough to get the 58; after I scored 58, I got one click away from what would’ve been a 57, but on the next game I won, I scored a 74 (I think). I don’t think I’ve gotten faster than 74 since. I got the 18 the same day as the 58, while I was still moving amazingly fast. I don’t think I’m as fast as I used to be, but I can still score times in the low 30s/high 20s on intermediate. I can’t seem to beat expert consistently, though; I always have to guess and I usually lose then. Anyone have any expert tips?

MemberHas anyone ever experienced that old problem with the first second skipping by faster than normal?

MemberIf anyone hasn’t done so already, read the directions for Minesweeper; this handy shortcut is discussed in the directions. A little more information about the shortcut (pressing both buttons simultaneously):
This shortcut only works if you have already flagged the appropriate mines. If you see a 3, for example, and you have only flagged 2 mines, the shortcut will not work; all of the immediate surrounding squares will just become depressed momentarily. There is really no danger in randomly clicking both buttons at the same time to look for an opening, but if you do it constantly you will lose time. The danger comes when you flag incorrectly. You must have the correct mines flagged when using the shortcut. If you have incorrectly flagged a square and attempt the shorcut, you will probably lose your game.
The shortcut should be used often, but it is not always the best choice in every situation. Sometimes, using the shortcut will actually slow you down. For example: You’ve run into a 7, but you know where the one safe square is. If you use the shortcut in this situation, you will lose a lot of time. Remember that you must have all of the mines flagged in order to use the shortcut. In this situation, you would be using 8 clicks to erase 1 square (7 clicks to flag each of the 7 mines and a simultaneous click to erase the remaining square). It would be much faster just to click the one remaining square and avoid using the shortcut. This way, you’ll be using 1 click to erase 1 square. You may never run into this extreme, but this example shows how using the shortcut too often will cost you. For the best times, you should use a combination of both regular clicks and shortcuts.
