when editing a post or posting a new topic, there’s a set of four checkboxes below the text entry field. however…. one of them doesn’t have any text associated with it, so i’d have no way of knowing what it does. looking at the source, i see this:
Code:October 21, 2006 at 8:31 pm #153616Jeff HesterKeymasterIt appears to be related to the vBSEO module. I’m checking into it now.
Thanks for reporting this — don’t know how I missed that!
October 21, 2006 at 9:17 pm #153617Jeff HesterKeymasterOk, this is fixed. The label is “Automatically retrieve titles from external links” and if you put in a a URL, it retrieves the page title and displays that instead. Neat, eh?

good to know it’s fixed, though.

Personally, I find it rather annoying. For some sites I’ve linked to in the past, the title of the page has been way longer than the URL, so the post doesn’t look or read properly. Plus, I’d rather know the web address then the title of the page when I’m clicking on it. I dunno, it’s just a preference thing, but I wish it were off by default (or settable in your profile to be off by default).
