In one computer, the Messenger works fine. In another computer, the icons circled above (Show Menu, Minimize, Maximize, Close) are missing, so I always have the Menu showing. How can I get it to not show the menu?
This happened while I was using WLM 8.0. Not when I initially installed it, but after a few weeks of using WLM 8.0. I was hoping that the upgrade to 8.1 Beta would resolve the issue, but I have the same problems. And I have the same problem with/without the Mess patch.
I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it several times, and still those icons are missing.
Any ideas?

ParticipantHave you tried maximising th window bar by double clicking it to reveal the “show menu bar” “hide menu bar” selector? as the minimise, maximise and close buttons disappear when your click to show menubar in WLM 8.0.
Do you use a skinning program that could be hiding the buttons?

MemberThe Show Menu or the Hide Menu icons don’t exist. It looks just like the picture above without those icons. I have the Mess patch on, but even when I uninstall everything and reinstall with just WLM 8.0, I have the same issue (no skin, no patch).
It’s on permanent “Show Menu” mode without the option to Hide Menu.

MemberOkay, so I removed WLM altogether and reinstalled from scratch. And I still get this:

No option to Hide Menu.

ParticipantWhen you un-installed the Mess Patch, did you revert to the backup (default settings)?

Then I removed all registry entries if they looked like they were related to WLM or MSN Messenger (but not Windows Messenger). Then I removed all directories in the HD that had “MSN Messenger” or “Messenger” in it.
Then I downloaded a new file from live.com (version 8.0.0812) and reinstalled WLM from scratch.

MemberHOWEVER … if I log in as a different user in Windows (not different Messenger user but different Windows OS user), then everything shows up fine. I guess I could just create a new Administrator username and migrate everything over and delete the current username, but I really don’t want to do that.
