MemberDownload an XML editor. There’s a bunch out there. That’ll make it much easier than Notepad, but it’s still going to require a functional brain.

ParticipantIt means you’ll still have to use your brain to edit it properly. Any other questions?

KeymasterEditing XML will not be as simple as editing a Word document. There are “tags” for each of the bits of information associated with a message. Time, date, sender, the message itself, etc.
If you’re simply editing bits of the conversation, it should be pretty easy to figure out. If you want to add entirely new fabricated conversations, that would be a bit trickier, but if you follow the same format, you’ll be ok. Here is an example:
hello again
hello
Every instant message sent contains several components:
- MessageDate – time and date that the message was sent
- From – who sent the instant message
- To – who it was sent to
- Text – the actual message itself
If you copy everything between the opening and closing tags, you can paste that and edit it with your own message.
By the way, the message above consisted of the following conversation:
zelda4555: hello again
Jeff: hello
Surprised that there is so much information exchanged with each little instant message?
